Has there been any thought about when the next draft date will be. I believe that the signing deadline for draft picks is mid-August. I would suggest that we start our draft right after that. I thought that last year's draft date was too late because part of it occurred after the season and did not factor into out salary caps for the year.

I agree Roy. We can set the date to be August 15th or so... a day after MLB's deadline.
-
Given that many teams will try to make transactions to clear space, we should get this decided on soon. I'm in favor of making the rule be our draft starts the day after the deadline.

i support it.

Let's make August 16th the start of the draft. This even gives two weeks of waivers for teams desperate to clear cap space. I updated the deadlines to reflect this and our playoff schedule.

I don't see anything specific in the EDR rules about when cap space must be cleared for the draft so I would suggest that teams free up the funds within 24 hours of drafting a player. I picked 24 hours, because that is the time frame for freeing up cap space for signing free agents.
Could we display the full draft order including which first round picks were exchanged via RFA? I believe that the first 15 picks were protected.

Cap space must be cleared by the pick.

I think the above was implied, but it would be good to have it explicitly stated in the rules.

I thought we did away with RFA's and were just going with type A and B from now on?

We did moving forward, but we still had them during the past offseason and have had picks change hands because of them (see Ty Wigginton, where MIL now has CHW's 1st rounder and a supplemental pick)

No, I knew about the picks, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making up the whole "no more RFA" thing
