I am withdrawing this bid. Sorry.
-
4.5 mil to the Dodgers if you want him

I do believe there was a precedent for trying to withdraw bids and Colby put a nix on it, stating that all bids are final. I'm not opposed to having some mechanism for canceling bids based on certain conditions, but we need to be fair/consistent.
Please disregard my post if this specific situation was discussed elsewhere...

If there was precedance, it was undone, because I have seen at least one other withdrawn bid recently.
-
I should clarify - I'm not trying to make a stink about this particular transaction and apologize if it came off that way.
What I should have written was I believe at one point there was a 'ruling/interpretation' of the bidding rules that bids could not be withdrawn, we should clarify that everyone is on the same page as to what the 'withdraw' rules are in the future.
Are they allowed at all, and if so, are there any conditions that must be met for a withdraw to be allowed?
Also - I believe the instance I'm think of was back during the RS bidding, not a recent FA bid.
-
There is nothing in the rules that states that you cannot rescind a bid, at least not that I can see. The Marlins did it with Jorge Cantu, I did it with Zach Britton, but later re entered the bidding, and Roy has done it now. If there is a rule to be made about it, you guys better get your heads together quickly before we get further into free agency. I think you should be able to withdraw a bid, so long as no one bids after you, because then you just screw everything up. I also think there should be some time limit on it. That might keep some people from just throwing FA names out there.

Unless Colby chimes in, we can ignore my comments...
-
If we let him withdraw his bid then I believe that this player should get another 72 hours before it closes.
-
I'll take him for 4.5m if that's still on the table. 3m bonus and rookie prospect, EDR.
-
Wow. I missed this one. That $6m bid by Texas cannot be reversed. Considering the level of confusion, I will re-open the clock starting with this post. The Rangers are leading the way with a $6m bid on Chris Withrow.
-
Colby - rescinding bids has been done twice before. Once by me (Zach Britton - who I won) and once by the Marlins. I couldn't find anything in the rules that states you cannot rescind a bid.

It really shouldn't be done because it makes every single bid illegitimate. The only way I would allow it is if there were cap issues.

There may be now

Mind if I help out here and raise the bidding?
