Title: Tampa acquires Sedin from Washington
Post by: themarksman13 on July 01, 2015, 05:08:35 PM
:TBL: acquires
Henrik Sedin, $1.8m (2016-17)
:EDM: Round 5

:WAS-NHL: acquires
William Karlsson, $1.0m (2015-16)
Reece Scarlett, N/C (0 games)
:TBL: Round 3

Washington needs to rebuild and acquire every young asset they can acquire. Here, they are acquiring two young prospects, one who could become a top-6 or at least a top-9 forward, and another, who should provide depth to his squad. The 3rd round pick is more like a 1st rounder (Like 30th something ovr). That should provide Washington with a very solid prospect in a very deep draft.

Tampa acquires a solid, veteran, second-line centre. Yes, Sedin is aging, but he should still produce. Looking at my roster, I felt like I could accelerate the rebuild by dealing these assets who I don't really see as big parts of my plans and don't really fit in. I have a ton of forward depth.
The 5th round pick is just like the last pick in the draft so I can draft and develop some new guys, different from the previous regime.

Thanks Ryan for the deal. :WAS-NHL: to confirm.

:WAS-NHL: confirms this deal.

I thought Sedin would be worth a little more, but I shopped him around for a good 2 weeks and this was the only offer I had.  I really like getting the 3rd rounder, and I think both specs could contribute on the NHL level.

Sedin has a good 2 years left, but they would just be wasted years on my rebuilding team.

Thanks for the deal Mark!  :toast:

Sedin is starting to show his age, so two prospects with the potential to fill the bottom of the line up with some scoring upside is a pretty solid return. The real value in the deal will depend on who norrya drafts with the 3rd rounder.

I respect the right to run your teams as you both see fit.
