How many open teams are left?
-
There are six open spots left. I have interest from two additional people, but they have not gotten back to me yet.
-
are the brew crew open. big fan of the team
-
Teams have not been selected yet. All there is right now is an order, which is the order in which you joined the league. I haven't asked the GM's to pick yet, so they can have a chance to look over at the completed league constitution before making a decision.
-
Ok. So pretty much as soon as the order is filled we will start picking teams?
-
As soon as the league constitution is in good shape, we can start picking teams.
Actually, if people want to start picking teams now, that's fine by me, as long as they understand some of the rules may change. The one caveat is that the selection order must be followed, and if someone doesn't want to pick before the constitution is complete, then the selection comes to a halt.
I know a lot of people are anxious to get started, but I'm just trying to be fair here. The reason I advertised this league so early was to get more eyes on the league constitution, so we can vet out any issues before we even begin. In my experience, these types of leagues tend to fall apart because of poor planning and the lack of rules to address specific scenarios. Hopefully, we can avoid that here.
-
Exactly. I really want this league to be good
-
I think you should randomize the order in which each manager chooses their teams, its not really fair for those of us who found out about this a little later than others. Just a suggestion either way I still think this is going to be a fun league.

This was something I was on the fence about in the beginning. Ultimately I decided to do first-come first-serve, because it would get more people to join quicker. With more people, it's easier to recruit since they would view this as a serious league and less likely to fail and be abandoned in two weeks. People also like certainty; it's quite difficult to get someone to make a commitment when they might get the 3rd pick or the 30th pick. This way, the 28th person to join would join knowing they get the 28th pick; there would be no illusions that they'd get the Atlanta Braves.
I'm reluctant to randomize the order now for fear of a mass exodus. Whether it's right or not, some people will join only if there is a good team available, and there's no way for me to tell which of these 28 or 29 other guys in here are like that. I've had people quit for things that I find irrelevant (when I moved the league from a Proboards site to here on ProFSL, I lost 6 people) so I don't know how many I would lose for this change if I were to do it.
Hope you understand.
-
Oh yeah I definitely understand the reasoning behind the decision, its all good with me. Like you said people joining late will know what there getting themselves into as did I. I am going to play regardless of what team I get, this is something I have been wanting to do for a while now. I'm just ready to get my team.
Any idea on how many managers are needed to fill out the league?
-
We're full as of today. Any other people that ask will be placed on the waiting list. I'll update the organization selection order when I get the rest of the people's information.

Great News!
-
I have first pick and I won't be picking until the Constitution is complete. I would like to read thru the rulebook and gain an understanding to that and make the best decision possible on which team I should pick.
-
Good choice Reid. I encourage everybody to go through the League Constitution so they know what to expect. Actually, I recommend everyone review the constitution as it stands now so if you see something unfair or have an idea for an improvement, we can implement it now.
