Rangers do this trade because Simmons could be an elite RP especially when factoring in Braves history and all it costs is a fairly typical low-minors pitcher.
Yes I know he had surgery, but that's why he's cheap now.

Are you aware Shae Simmons had Tommy John surgery earlier this month?

Just wanted to make sure.... when you cited Braves history, I thought you meant Medlen, Beachy, Venters all going for a 2nd Tommy John surgery.  But then I realized you were the one dealing for Shea....

Angels approve

I don't like to sell low on Simmons as I too think he has a shot of being an elite RP when he returns from injury but the Angels are competing now and can use the roster spot more effectively this year than storing an injured pitcher.

I also highly doubt he would have cleared waivers to be stored in AAA for the year so better to get something for him and commit to being all-in.

Thanks to Chris for negotiation.  :toast:

with that being said, he can be placed on the 60 Day DL since he was placed on it in real life on 2/21.  If he is on the 60 day DL he doesn't count towards a spot on the 40-man.

Thanks, just looked over the rules and I didn't realize that 60day didn't count towards 40man and there is no limit of players on DL. (For some reason I thought 2) Still okay with trade anyway.
