I mean we are all just counting down the days until draft day at this point. Will our NHL corresponding team tank it hard enough to get the best chance at the #1 pick? Will our NHL corresponding team trade their next 10 first round picks and their entire first line to get it? I don't know, but I wanted to set up an indicator of who has the best chance in our league at the #1 spot currently. I'll update now and again.
1. Carolina Hurricanes (20%) NHL team is currently winless and with a rash of injuries to a team completely devoid of depth combined with terrible defense and incompetent goaltending they are going for last place at the speed of light.
2. Calgary Flames (17%) Since they are currently last in our league they get the combined chances of all the NHL teams that don't have a DNHL counterpart in the draft lotto.
3. Buffalo Sabres (13.5%) A team isn't normally so bad that another team should actually be embarrassed to lose to them, but the NHL Sabres are that bad.
4. Florida Panthers (11.5%)
5. Arizona Coyotes (9.5%)
6. Colorado Avs (8.5%)
7. Edmonton Oilers (6.0%)
8. Toronto Maple Leafs (5.0%)
9. St. Louis Blues (3.5%) If the Blues end up with Connor McDavid I will straight up demand the team be broken up under the rules of being a Monopoly. They get treated like 90's Microsoft or I quit.
10. Philadelphia Flyers (2.5%)
11. Detroit Red Wings (2.0%)
12. Washington Caps (1.0%)

I wish my real NHL team sucked....
No, wait, I don't!
-
i hate that I am on this list. I am pretty sure not one of my signed players have worked out this year.
Was expecting at least one of two of these guys (Ott, Fleishman, Meszaros, Del Zotto, Ruutu) to pick it up a bit....
Couple that with Mike Smiths horrendous goaltending to start the year...
-
I'm curious what your equation looks like for all this.
-
wooohooo my team doesn't suck enough to make the list hahahaha
-
You do suck but remember you traded your 1st round pick to florida.
-
rofl thanks snug, love u2 bud
-
Thats what I am here for
-
This is why the set up is kind of silly for draft picks...
Carolina is a good team in this league and if the NHL team keeps sucking they could get Mcd or Eich I just strengthen even more!
I'm not complaining that much since Florida isn't much better but still... Technically the best team in this league could also get the best player in the draft!

No fancy equation here. I just took the NHL's revised draft lottery odds and paired them with the current NHL standings. So right now the NHL Hurricanes are last in the NHL and with that they get the highest percent chance to draft #1 at 20%. The DNHL Flames are last for us, so technically they get the combined percent of all the NHL teams that don't have a corresponding DNHL team and are in the draft lotto slots (Columbus, Winipeg, and New Jersey). Then the NHL Sabres are 2nd worst and get a 13.5% chance, so on and so forth. I couldn't really find any official tie breaker rules, but I think it goes regulation wins, then head to head wins (but how do you do that with 4 teams??), so i skipped head to head and went with goal differential. This obviously will change even after tonight's games but it is fun to look ahead a bit.

oh dear, my team really does suck!

Since a couple of the NHL teams aren't owned in our league their odds get absorbed by the lowest seed in our league which is now the Flyers, so it goes. For instance if the NHL Blue Jackets get the 1st pick, nobody automatically gets their player, so that pick basically falls to our lowest seeded team.
1. Philadelphia Flyers previous high 2.5% (20+9.5+7.5+6.5+3+2+1 = 49.5%) Flyers+Jackets+Devils+Stars+Sens+Rangers+Sharks
2. Edmonton Oilers previous high 6% (13.5%)
3. Carolina Hurricanes previous high 20% (11.5%)
4. Buffalo Sabres previous high 13.5% (8.5%)
5. Colorado Avs previous high 8.5% (6.0%)
6. Arizona Coyotes previous high 9.5 (5.0%)
7. Washington Caps previous high 1% (3.5%)
8. Florida Panthers previous high 11.5% (2.5%)
