Title: TRADE Philly and Detroit
Post by: izaman3 on September 16, 2014, 02:11:37 PM
To Philly - CAP 5.7m
Josh Bailey, $1.5m (2013-2016)
Marian Gaborik, $2.7m (2014-2017)
Mark Fistric, $1.5m (2014-2017)
:DET-NHL: 2nd rd 2015

To Detroit - CAP 7.1m
Alexander Semin, $6.1m (2014-2018)
Dmitry Orlov, $1.0m (2014-2016)
:PHI-NHL: 1st rd 2015

Everyone knows that I love trading, and papps has been looking for one for a while, an even after his Stamkos blockbuster and this, I'm not sure he is done yet.

Philly was looking for a bit of cap and more reasonable contracts, and I approached when I knew that he'd be willing to include his 1st in a deal. I feel that this deal suites both of our teams well. Philly gets the edge in fantasy points, but I make up for it with the pick upgrade. Gabby is going to have a great year in LA and its tough giving him up, but I'm looking for Semin to rebound and be the player he can be. Hopefully he doesn't bolt to the KHL on me.

I realize that this deal might not be able to go through until the end of the draft because it involves 2015 picks, but we're getting close, so I figured we'd post it now.

Thanks papps!  :toast:

Flyers agree.  I'm trying to win now and get a little cap back in the process.  Gaborik gives me a nice replacement for Semin at a much more reasonable cost.  I have no depth so Bailey is a nice addition as well.  Orlov has good upside but I think I can bridge some of that lost gap with Fistric.  I'm going for a championship this year so I'm gambling that my 1st rounder will be a low one.

Thanks izaman3 for the easy deal!!  :toast:

:iatp: Orlov is a great talent. That 1st rd pk could be gold or not. Semin is high risk reward but could do well in that new canes system. The fact Philly diversified a bit more in this deal and saved a little cap is key. This looks like a bridge deal before the next big one for the teams.

:iatp: The picks can be moved at this stage of the 2014 FNHL entry draft and you are both long standing owners not guys looking to sell the future.

Lots of these trades going down for teams to gain some cap relief and move players to fill positional needs. Good trade. Gaborik and Semin are huge wildcards annually.

Philly is loaded. If they stay healthy they will be a monster.

Philly is always a good bet to challenge! :win: Those will be late 1st and 2nd round picks given the performance of the 2 owners.

I love the package headed to the Flyers. Lots of scoring.

:iatp: This is a toss up IMHO. Semin and Gaborik are difficult to assess because they are streaky year to year. Regardless, a great trade!
