TO AVS
LW Carl Hagelin, $3.7m (2014-2017)
For
TO SHARKS
C Henrik Sedin, $5.5m (2013-2017)
Round 4 - 2014 :COL-NHL:
Sharks make this deal in the hopes that a vet like Sedin can have a bounce back season. Seems I'm adding a bunch of old guys. Lol
We were offered Henrik but felt we wanted the pick to make it worthwhile otherwise keeping a high scoring LW like Hagelin who's been outscoring Henrik since he entered the league and is cheaper at a tough position to replace this yr would've been just fine with my Sharks. The pick was also to bridge the age difference 34yrs vs 26yrs.
Avs to confirm. Good trade talks Slack! :toast:

We identified a need at Center in San Jose and are happy to find the moving parts to make a deal. Always hate parting with picks of any kind ever but for a the younger cheaper Hagelin it is definitely in our organizations best interest to do so. It is always satisfying to make a deal but especially so when it is the first one with a GM. Thanks for Burkes Boys for this proposal! :toast:

Hagelin was in fact outscored by Henrik in the 2012-13 season. Positional trade with two players at different arcs in their careers....

Had to check this out because it's strange to think Sedin doesn't outperform Hagelin and so Sedin did better 2 of the 3 yrs in pts total but only 1yr if you look at points per game...
Hagelin last 3yrs
yr / pts / pts-gm / GP
13-14: 101.6 1.41 72
12-13: 82.45 1.72 48
11-12: 112.35 1.76 64
H.Sedin last 3yrs
yr / pts / pts-gm / GP
13-14: 93.3 1.33 70
12-13: 86.1 1.79 48
11-12: 137.55 1.68 82

Everyone's plugging holes on their roster. Good trade.

:iatp: Seems like a lopsided deal for the team getting a Sedin but those stats speak for themselves! Henrik is getting up there. Its an unexpected deal.

This looks it's a Win for Colorado when you consider age difference of the two players, the points-per-game totals, the caliber of the NHL teams the players are on, injury history, and the cap savings heading to Colorado. Of course, when you look at the names it seems closer to being an Even trade. Smart deal for both teams.

SJ could make out this year if Sedin rebounds. But Hagelin is a great young player and could be a star on the rise. I think this makes deal for both teams.
