Title: LAD/OAK II
Post by: MillerTime on August 20, 2014, 07:24:42 PM
CI Caratini, Victor, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI McMahon, Ryan, $0.5m (P-n/a)
OF Baltz, Jeremy, $0.5m (P-n/a)
MI Franchy Cordero $0.5m (P-n/a)
for
MI Ramirez, Hanley, $11.5m (2014) + $11M 2014

Confirmed new trade, added very young MI, who is sneaking onto many top spec lists.  Caratini at C, Cordero at MI, McMahon at CI, and Baltz at Of, all having very good years (Baltz just ok).  McMahon is one of the 2014 breakout specs, Caratini is double machine with good eye, Cordero is probably next big MI spec like Mondesi last year.

For injury prone MI that is a former star, now hitting declining years at $10m per year resign.  Don't get me wrong Hanley is good, just not great.

#17 MI in 2014 - 100 games played
#7 MI in 2013 - 86 games played

Dodgers agree.
Victor Caratini CHC C (also a premium position in FGM), according to Scouting Book is rated 15th overall C and 16th rated prospect in the Cubs system- THE #1 system in the majors.
http://www.scoutingbook.com/players/p3588
Ryan McMahon COL 3B Rated 13th at 3B overall and 10th in the Rockies system. With M. Cabrerra's contract expiring next year he could combine with recently acquired Garin Cecchini as my MIs of the future.
http://www.scoutingbook.com/players/p3547
Jeremy Baltz SD OF The 2012 2nd round draftee out of St.Johns didn't have a particularly good year but his OBP is impressive and he has decent power. Lower level OFers are of particular need in my farm system.
http://www.scoutingbook.com/players/p3092
Franchy Cordero SD SS Not part of the original trade admittedly I'm not familiar with him but I noticed on BB America he was rated the #12 prospect in the Padres system after the 2013season. 13 HR's, 41 SB in 177 MiLB games? Must be something there.

No one else is interested in Ramirez' and his decline in PT the last few year vs. his cost. He's been on waivers for at least a week.  The return looks pretty good compared to what I would get if I just release him at the end of the season.

I really dont understand what the :LAD: owner is doing here. Your leading your division and in the playoffs and selling.

That is not the job of the TC.

It's simply a calculated risk Dan. I have a stable full of quality MIs, the least of which is Alex Guererro (.317 w/11 HR @ AAA Albuquerque) who I'm betting will be called up 9/1. In making this trade I'm also betting he'll be a starting MI for the Dodgers next year.
I may not be right but consider that Hanram has missed 20% of the season due to injury THIS YEAR. I have no reason to think that he would improve on that a year later and it will cost $10M to resign him. Couple that with the $8M for Desmond and $9.5 for Guerrero that I'm paying AND consider that I'm thin at the positions I'm trading for. 1 + 1 = 2
If that doesn't make sense please consider this:
If I decide that resigning him this off-season would be too constrictive to my future budget, thus my ability to sustain the success the Dodgers have had, the best I could hope for is the #16 pick in the 2015 FYPD.
Hope this helps clear thing up.

It is actually the TC's job to make sure a team isnt going in 1973208946384569823457057098234 different directions and with moving Holliday and HanRam from a team leading its division is a little weird. With that said I could veto and it wouldnt matter at this point. Also BHows, just a comment but Guerrero is going to to play where when he is called up this year? Also you may consider the fact that they have a guy named Seager in the minors. With that said you got your deal through MT enjoy!

This is a dynasty league, teams either lose these players to FA and get nothing or obtain young assets for their teams.  To be honest you have not stated anything that leads anyône in this league to believe that you even know these young players.  Seems to me like NYY is voting with their playoff interests as the main goal.

I have stated why I dont like it multiple times. MT if you want to make accusations please make them legit. I have spoken with others and at least 1 agrees. DEAL WITH IT like a man! :LAD: selling off key contributors at this point makes no sense!

Key contributer? That would be Cabrerra, Stanton and Puig. Hanram will Miss 30+ games and I found out with D.Wright last year what those end of season injuries can do.
As for Guerrero, I really don't think they are paying him millons to play in AAA. I'll take my chances.
My strategy to sustaining success is based on staying young and buying low, selling high. I care as much about the future as I do the present. Simply put, I got the best return I could get and think this in the best interest of my team's future.
Isn't that why we play Dynasty?

BTW- I didn't trade Holliday. That would be KC.
