Title: Angels/Mets Trade
Post by: Brent on July 15, 2014, 10:27:27 AM
The Angels/Mets have agreed to the following trade.  It looks like the Mets are going to try and overtake the Braves as they just traded for a haul in arms.  Garza has been straight beast mode lately and that would be a great addition to any lineup, but add in Jackson and Hand and hopefully Romero gets back sometime and that is a 4 SP addition.  The Angels do this trade to clear some roster spots as we made many trades in which we acquired a stable of young arms so this makes room for them.  It also gets us another CI bat who when healthy is one of the best in the game.  Thanks for the easy talks Corey and good luck.

SP Garza, Matt, $6m (2017), signed 2/2/14
SP Jackson, Edwin, $5.5m (2016)
SP Romero, Ricky, $5.5m (2016)
SP Hand, Brad, $0.5m (P-2014)

for

CI Fielder, Prince, $22.5m (2015)
Pay $5 2014

Mets to confirm.

Before this season started this is an easy veto for me.  Fielder for an ok pitcher and three average to below average pitchers?  With the contract and Fielder's health it makes it somewhat passable to me.  Its selling really low on Fielder IMO.

Just barely but :iatp:

Yeah, in this league it is almost impossible to trade pitchers.  How is that even right?  Look at the MLB, Shark just went for the top hitting specs in the A's organization.  IMO, there should be more value put on pitchers.
