Title: SJ/Detroit Trade
Post by: izaman3 on June 23, 2014, 12:01:04 AM
To SJ
Andrew Ladd, $7.0m (2011-2015)
Jonathan Ericsson, $1.7m (2013-2014)
Braydon Coburn, $1.7m (2015-2016)
Round 1 - 2014

To Detroit
Stephen Weiss, $4.3m (2012-2015)
Mike Fisher, $2.8m (2013-2016)
Alex Petrovic, $0.5m (2013-2015)
Adam Larsson, $1.5m (2013-2016)

This move is almost the opposite of my recent moves, look fellas, I'm not all about star power. I give up some great pieces in Ladd and my 1st, and good pieces in the two d-men. But Fisher should still have a few good years left in him and I really hope Weiss can stay healthy and rebound with Babcock and the Wings this season. I really like Larsson, he hasn't shown much for being a 4th overall pick and is on an iffy NJ team, but he's still young and should blossom soon. Petrovic is another cheap d-man that hopefully sticks to the big club.

Thanks for the deal!  :toast:

Sharks confirm this trade with the Wings. Getting Ladd into a Sharks uniform has been something we've been thinking about since last year. His 7m cap hit is painful but it is what it is. Giving up Fisher and Larsson was tough. Also going to miss Weiss especially given his incredibly low extension cost next year and how he might bounce back from a couple subpar seasons. Happy to complete this deal nonetheless. Thanks Detroit. :toast:

Win to :DET-NHL: for the good package and clearing some cap in the near future.

Giving the win to the Wings :DET-NHL: here for cutting salary while adding more production. Fisher isn't far off the pace from Ladd and has a cheaper cap hit while Petrovic (has big upside from what I know of the kid) and Larsson are younger, less expensive and more productive. Weiss will go from a 4.3m contract to a league minimum 0.2m for being the 218th ranked Centre. The 1st round pick helps :SJ: in this deal but clearly a win to Detroit.

:iatp: I think what JD and PPG said makes good sense and seems to checkout. I'll give the edge to Detroit for diversifying although Ladd, a couple of D and a late 1st rounder aren't pieces anyone would turn down.

Good trade boys!
