Title: Flyers - Avalanche deal
Post by: papps on June 19, 2014, 10:00:19 AM
Flyers receive:
D - Scott Mayfield
D - Robert Hagg

Avalanche receive:
Keith Yandle, $6.5m (2014-2015)

Flyers agree to this deal as we have no young guys coming up the pipeline.  I like Yandle but after resigning my top forwards he was a luxury I could no longer afford.  I get a ton of cap space back and some promising young Dmen.

Thanks SlackJack for the negotiations!  :toth:

Tough to move Papps off his price. In fact I wasn't able to as I like Yandle that much. This is an investment for my long term on the back end. A lot of cap to take on for this season but easy to work with beyond that. Cheers Papps. I approve and confirm.

Avs and Flyers both getting busy!

:COL-NHL: Avs building their backend for the here and now. That's 2 deals in a row they've added a D.
:PHI-NHL: Flyers building their MiLR up from ground zero while gaining some much needed cap. Great trade guys!

Normally two prospects for an All-Star wouldn't cut it but given this is a cap league with teams up against the ceiling, a trade like this makes good sense.

Prospects that have a good future ahead of them for a stud D-man who has a large cap hit. Good move for both teams.

Teams are making all these moves to save cap and here I am doing the opposite, maybe I'm doing things wrong?

Uh, yes... the Panthers would like to discourage you from adding anymore stud calibre players to your Wings.  :P

I'm going to give the win to Avs :COL-NHL: here for getting a player they can insert into the lineup immediately. Prospects are always a gamble especially on defence but those kids are pretty good bluechip prospects.
