Good luck Jorge. The Mariners were pushing it at 4 years / $ 8.5m but I was always a little uncomfortable with the 4th year.

As per MLB, it seems to be the extra years that are clinching these deals.

The Marlins have Cantu as an RFA and can match and win the bid with a $9m/year salary... right?

Correct.  Hank has a week to match.  He did say that it was too much for him, but that was during the bidding process itself, and not in the matching period, so he deserves a shot to match here.

Hank is 6.5 mil under the cap. He is a few mil short.

Hank is 6.5 mil under the cap. He is a few mil short.

He could technically still get Cantu if he shed $2.5m in the process.

Technically... Hank you want to chime in? You dropping 2.5 mil and taking Jorge?
