I believe it is the top 10 teams, division winners get automatic births.  You are in the 9th spot, 2 games ahead of 11th Mapleleafs and 2 games behind the Oilers for your division lead.  So, you are just as close to being out of the playoffs as you are to getting the 4th seed.

LOL well im tied for the division top spot now, lol I surely hope its 10 teams in case I blow it like I tend to do!!
