This would have to be a 4 year extension due to the rules on salary and contracts.

Correct me if I am wrong Dross but doesn't he have the choice of contract length, just that 4 years is the max length given the salary??

Um no based on the rules set in place a certain salary with a certain value of years. There is only a choice with salaries that are under 1.5m dollars where you can do a 1 year or a 2 year contract.
