I think there should be a rule involving a team that can sign a extention to a player that already has a contract.

I know why you are asking this, but several GMs have already done this. You can give a prospect player a new contract. It is already in the rules that you can give a player under contract a new contract as long as it as least the same amount of years and salary and within the term limits per the salary.

I can understand about a prospect extentions but not a guy that trades for a player and then extents the years. I guess with the new rule for contract years this wont come up again. I just believe we should throw a rule of somthing if a player is under a contract to extent it.

This extentions also require that the ranking be looked up, right?

Correct... it is all within the rules.
