Title: Blockbuster Trade Kings & Flames
Post by: dickiedunn on January 27, 2014, 02:47:57 AM
The Kings and their new management announce a blockbuster trade to infuse some talented forwards into the line-up.

(Jack I cut & paste from your Saturaday PM)

To :LAK: 5.3 --> 8.0 w/Saad's extension
* Top LW: LW/RW Brandon Saad, $0.8m (2013-2014) he's due a new deal to the tune of 3.5m/yr
* Prospect: C/LW Tomas Hertl, $1.5m (2013-2016-EL) on LTIR
* Depth LW:  Benoit Pouliot, $1.3m (2013-2015)
* Round 1 - 2014 from Flames
* Sweeten the Pot: Robyn Regeher, $1.7m (2014-2015)

To :CLG: 6.3 Cap
* G Jonathan Bernier, $3.9m (2013-2016)
* D Dmitry Kulikov, $2.4m (2013-2016)
* MiLR D - Nicolas Deslauriers (2009: 3/84 - 0 Games)
* Round 4 - 2014 Kings

Kings listed the asking price and the Flames offered us a package quickly and very much to our liking to replace all the points we would lose by dealing our star goalie Bernier plus receive our premium for scarcity at the position. We have a natural softwood for Saad who's a hometown favorite of the new owner. Hertl can't help us until next year but we were expecting a prospect anyway so we can wait.

There were only 2-3 teams we expected offers from and since we filled our wishlist and Quick is back playing full-time, we pulled the trigger on the deal.

Jack/Flames to confirm.

Flames franchise confirms the deal. Bernier stops pucks for Dave Nonis's Buds and gets major minutes. His contract is cheap as goalies go and you can't find those goalie points growing on trees. I've been watching the team play without a true number 1 starter and they can't compete nightly. Also we can always pick up free agent skaters easily but not a goalie so why not fix that problem ASAP. :thumbsup:

Thanks for sending us a puckstopper DD!  :toast:

Let the Calgary rebuild officially begin!  :win: :taco:

I like it. That was why I was pushing so hard for 2 teams.

Both teams get better~

Like a Dark Roast coffee, Bold!
Like Rip mentioned a good trade for both teams.

I have to ask DD what they meant when they said "We have a natural softwood for Saad"  :rofl: Typo I hope. :agent:

Back to the trade, great deal for the Flames! They have about 15m in B/O cap coming off the books during the offseason. Another 7m in cap with the future cap increase for 2014-15. They can easily replace skaters through FA like JD said. But I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at the package LA got in the deal.
