Title: Predators/Bruins Trade
Post by: e40 on November 16, 2013, 12:18:46 AM
The :NAS: and :BOS-NHL: owners have agreed on this trade

:NAS: trades

RW Patric Hornqvist, $6.1m (2013-2014)
D Seth Jones, $3.0m (2013-2016-EL)
Round 3 - 2014 (from :STL-NHL:)

:BOS-NHL: trades

D Mike Green, $3.9m (2012-2015)
C Joe Colborne, $2.0m (2014-2015-EL)
C Gustav Nyquist, $0.2m (2014-2015-EL)
D - Joshua Morrissey
Round 2 - 2014 :BOS-NHL:

:NAS: does this trade to help with their rebuilding process. We hate to see Jones go since he will probably be a stud one day but we feel the players we are getting back will more than make up for losing Jones in the long run. Hornqvist is a pricey winger in the last year of  their current contract and just isn't in our future plans.

Green is still a stud d-man but probably no where near where he was prior to all his injuried seasons. Both forwards are young skilled with a lot of potential players. Morrisey is a young d-man that also is very skilled with a lot of potential. The 2nd rounder just helps us fill out our minor league list.

Jackdaniels to confirm trade.

Hopefully it works out for both teams in the short term as well as long term.

Bruins confirm! We were in the market for a Right Wing and a young prospect Defenseman with a bright future. The price was steep but you have to pay the piper if you want to dance. We're in the Atlantic Division and standing pat just won't cut it when you're going head to head against the likes of :DET-NHL: :OTT: :TOR-NHL: :FLO: :TBL:. Morrissey, Nyqvist and Colbourne are strong prospects and we are glad they are going to the Western Conference.

Thanks for the smooth and professional trade discussions e40!

:NAS: gets a health package again that includes Colborne the 1st Round 16th overall pick in 2008, Morrissey the 1st Round 13th pick in 2013, Nyqvist from the Wings system, an All-Star Defenseman in Mike Green and a higher Draft pick.

Win to :NAS: even if they are giving up a 1st Round 4th overall pick in Jones and a good forward in Hornqvist who might have a less expensive extension coming his way.

That's two very good trades back to back by e40 getting great pieces that will help his team now and down the road.

Preds end up with the best player in the trade in Green. If Jones develops into an All-Star D in the coming years this might work out for the Bruins too. Good trade for Nashville!

PS Watch out :NAS: are stockpiling young talent!

I think this is a really good trade for both franchises. :NAS: is re-shaping (not really re-building) his franchise and customizing it to his needs. :BOS-NHL: is looking to fill specific roster needs to compete in what appears be the the highest scoring Division in 2013-14 (Atlantic Division).

Bruins will get a less expensive Hornqvist as his extension is less than his current 6.1m deal while Seth Jones is a stud prospect who gets Shea Weber as a mentor in real life. Nashville gets a terrific package that will help now and later this year but soon enough. Nyqvist is the 6th leading scorer in the AHL, Colborne is playing under the watchful eye of Burke in the NHL ... the guy who traded for him X2 and Green is a very productive blueliner in this league.

I'll give the slight edge to :NAS: on this trade but fairly even overall.
