I confirm. Looking to restock my minors with a couple high risk decent reward prospects and Kivlehan, with a much needed IF prospect.
Hard to give up Santiago, but my pitching is far ahead of my hitting right now and I have to think of long run.
Contingent on this trade and roster moves proposed today, please assign as follows:
Kivlehan to AA Birmingham
Gant to A Kannapolis
Alberto to A Kannapolis

What is the Blue Jays reasoning.

Really not a good trade for your franchise honestly.

Big push for me in this trade is Santiago's high walk rate and uncertain long term rotation future. Its a risky move, of course, but I'm willing to take the risk here. Perhaps I could and should have gotten a better return, but I'm still learning what people value in this league.

Santiago gives me a cheap, controllable arm to plug into the pitching staff. I didn't feel like the cost was prohibiitve. I wasn't especially high on any of the prospects and none were #1 at their position in my organization. The draft picks, while not high at all, will help build back some of the depth lost in this deal.

:iatp: Although I think Alberto could make you regret this deal in a few years, he was nearly 4 years younger than league average in the pitching rich Texas League last season.
