Title: FA Closure
Post by: yahoolando on September 17, 2013, 11:18:04 PM
Any new posting for Free Agency will close Thursday September 19th at 10am Noon MST or Noon EST for you east coasters.

As the postings need to be held to win for 48 hours this gives me time to update all the info between the end of the year and the start of the draft.  To be announced upcoming.

Any postings already up can be continued to be bid on but no new threads.

Please make sure not to go over your budget.  If you do so your bids will become invalid and you will be shut down from bidding the rest of this season (only a few days!)

Nice to see the action and excitement!

I'm confused about this.  There are really three types of free agency.

MLB Free Agency
MILB Free Agency
International Free Agency

When does the fiscal year begin and end for each?

And what times do the types of free agency begin and end?  In the rules it says International starts on July 4th which was just recently but now it's closed?  Any players signed by MLB post July 2nd, 2013 are eligible to be signed as international free agents now? MILB free agency should be year round because these players are either cut or not under contract, no?  With the money applying to whichever season depending on the fiscal cut off?

Just trying to clarify the rules.

Free agency closes at the end of the season.  Fiscal Year ends at the end of the season. I need time to process everything it's not automated.  Free agency then opens in January.

Simple as that.  International players will be available in July of next year for both 2013 and 2014 signees.

All new threads are closed now.  Releases and offseason moves can all be done but no additional FAs until January.

Any player put on waivers can be picked up but cannot be signed to a new contract.

So free agency for MLB and MiLB opens January 1st, closes at the end of the World Series.  Fiscal year opens January 1st as well.  International Free Agency pool money fiscal year and free agency opens July 4th.  Is that correct?

How about trading open and close?  Does trading re-open post World Series?

I appreciate the confirmation.  Thanks.

Trading will reopen at the beginning of October once MLB Regular season is finished
