Why the hell do you keep locking threads?
Q: What are irrevocable waivers typically used for?
A: These type of waivers are usually used to move a player off the 40-man roster and outright him to the minor leagues. They are also used to release players. Teams cannot release a player without first putting that player through waivers.
-
Nevermind, you have different rules. It'd be helpful if you didn't lock threads.
-
2 different types of waivers here, unconditional release waivers and irrevocable outright waivers. If a player passes irrevocable outright waivers after 48 hours on the wire, then he just goes to that team's minor league system (and off the 40-man) and the team keeps paying his remaining contract as if nothing changed if he is unclaimed.
With outright release waivers, the team pays whatever is left on the contract and that player becomes an unrestricted free agent
-
Yep, got it. Thank you.
-
All waivers take 48 hours to clear.
If the are on unconditional release waivers then after 48 hours the player would become a Free Agent but Kubel wasn't outright released.
I lock the threads because they are cleared or irrelevant to keep posting. I have to keep it organized.
Please read the rules.
