Title: New Boston GM deals Seguin Horton for Tarasenko Green
Post by: jackdaniels on September 09, 2013, 12:21:03 AM
To :BOS-NHL:
C Carl Soderberg, $1.5m (2014-2015)
RW Vladimir Tarasenko, $2.0m (2014-2015-EL)
D Mike Green, $3.9m (2014-2015)
Round 3 - 2013 :SJ: via :TOR-NHL:
Gain +$2.6m in cap space for more moves!

To :SJ:
C Tyler Seguin, $7.2m (2016-2017)
RW Nathan Horton, $2.8m (2015-2016)

We were offered basically the same package with a pick going to the asharks which didn't cut it.

We love the pieces coming back especially a healthy Green. Tarasenko is lightning in a bottle. Horton is the second coming of Marc Savard, at least that's what I think and Seguin's inability to show some brotherly love got his butt kicked out of Boston! Carl and the pick are icing on the cake and we save a few dollars which is key.

Easy deal for us. Thanks for the smooth negotiations Burke  :toast:

Sharks confirms this trade.
Boston already has too many fat contracts sitting on their roster and would want to add a stud defenseman like Mike Green. Vlady Tarasenko is a monster and has a bargain of a contract for another two years. Soderberg will have a bigger role with Seguin's exit from the real Bruins. My Sharks wanted more star power and have room to take on a 7.2m cap hit from Seguin's salary and that's what we got. Sharks aren't done trading.

I was distracted by JD's new avatar!

Last yr I would've shot this down. This yr's a whole new ballgame with the lower cap. I like what :SJ: is getting but only because I have cap. Cash is king around here! :money:

I view all the pieces in this trade a very valuable. It's a solid deal for both sides. While cap places a big part in all trades this year, I think it is less important in this deal than it was in some of the others.

If Mike Green can stay healthy, he's dynamite. Tarasenko is going to tear it up sooner or later and Carl is no slouch. I think Seguin and Horton are both good players, but might have the same support for their success in their new environments.

Agree with Izaman3. Though I think he meant Tyler and Nathan might NOT have the same support in their new environments.

If all players stay healthy, I would give the Win to :BOS-NHL: in the short run and :SJ: in the long-run if the cap moves upward and Seguin's contract isn't as big of a burden as it will over the next 2 season.
