In this league we only deal in increments of $0.5m,and we always round up, therefore your calculations are a bit off.
The Seattle Mariners release the following 5 players:
C Hernandez, Ramon, $6.5m (2014) cap hits of $5m and $3.5m
RP Fujikawa, Kyuji, $1.5m (2014), cap hits of $1.5m and $1.0m
OF Hernandez, Gorkys, $0.5m (2014) cap hits of $0.5m for both years
OF Ankiel, Rick, $1.5m (2013), cap hit of $1.5m ($1.125m)
MI Donald, Jason, $0.5m (2013) cap hit $0.5m
I could be wrong, but I think these are the correct cap hits for the players released.

The rule reads:
"The hit against the cap is rounded to the nearest $500,000. Therefore, if it ends up being less than $250,000, the hit to the cap will be zero for that year."
The only one I question is Ankiel being $1M rather than $1.5M. $250K and $750K round up.

Rick is correct. Ankiel would be $1m. Cap hits are not rounded up but are rounded to the nearest $500,000.

So it would be:
C Hernandez, Ramon, $6.5m (2014) cap hits of $5m and $3.5m
RP Fujikawa, Kyuji, $1.5m (2014), cap hits of $1.5m and $1.0m
