  • Dan Wood: I would build them like the old cleveland teams... bats at every spot and pitching that is just good enough
    Today at 08:27:44 PM
  • redbeard82: i would pitch pedro astacio every day
    Today at 08:28:07 PM
  • redbeard82: era might be 5+, but 17 - 10 or whatever his record was is 17 - 10

  • Dan Wood: david nied
  • Dan Wood: not parra, not cespedes, not cargo... leaves only two OFs left
    Today at 08:30:18 PM
  • redbeard82: well of course he's pitching both games of the double header
    Today at 08:31:19 PM
  • Scalious: What was your plan for the Rockies Brent?
  • Dan Wood: that goes without saying
  • Dan Wood: leave colorado

  • Orange Country: they added mike lansing, let andres leave and todd helton took over
    Today at 08:34:15 PM
  • Scalious: Yeah.. I was think something a little more creative..but that would do the trick too..
  • redbeard82: the margaritas at happy hour may have gotten the best of my judgment
    Today at 08:35:02 PM
  • Brent: 3 CFers (like the Pirates) to make the park smaller, but they all need to be able to hit as well, gap power 20HR guys with speed will work just fine.  A pitching staff that doesn't give up HRs, so guys with low HR/9 numbers, high GB rates and low GB rates.  Guys that have a high K/BB ratio, don't walk a lot.  A solo shot doesn't hurt as bad as a 2 run or more HR.  Big boppers at 1B and 3B, got to have some power in the lineup.  Great D up the middle, preferably guys that also can get on base and make things happen.    They have always went offense and it never seems to work, I'd consider going more speed and D, with higher BAs and solid power from most, but great power from a few positions.
  • Brent: Hoffman has had a less than 1 HR/9 since he has been back, I bet that played into them getting him.
  • Brent: typo, I meant High GB rate and low FB rate.
  • redbeard82: i actually think Castro is a much better fit for Coors than Hoffman
    Today at 08:36:52 PM
  • Brent: They need to treat it as their house, make it house rules and force everyone to come beat them in their house.  Teams are going to want to take advantage of the HR, but if they can't hit them then it's the Rockies advantage.
  • Dan Wood: the problem with that is that sometimes those low GB rates don't translate to coors
    Today at 08:37:17 PM
  • Dan Wood: Mike hampton being a prime example
    Today at 08:37:36 PM
  • Scalious: Brent I like that thinking. However I'd build the pitching staff in reverse.. Build and acquire elite RP arms.. Build up the depth of hifh upside RP. Then tell every SP the max batters they face will be 18. Never go 3rd time thru the order.
  • redbeard82: Hoffman's fastball is too straight and that big curve is his out pitch...CB pitchers have always struggled at Coors
    Today at 08:37:43 PM
  • Brent: From some stuff I have read Hoffman is changing some stuff, so he might even up being a different type pitcher than he was projected to be before surgery.
  • Vollmernator: In World Series can you pick a custom name like say I wanted to be call kitchener Giants :GEORGIA: and use that logo or does it need to be a real team like blue jays just wondering might join it cause I'm not getting the android box it's too much to upgrade to unlimited internet
    Today at 08:38:11 PM
  • Dan Wood: if stye could manage 5 jorge de la rosa types, I think they would be fine... guys that don't lose the game for you
    Today at 08:38:20 PM
  • Scalious: shorten the stints for SP. build the 25 man with an extra RP..
  • redbeard82: Dan Wood, kangol - PM
  • Brent: Is his FB still straight or was that before surgery?  I read where he is working on his CU and a cutter.
  • Vollmernator: :Georgia:
  • redbeard82: Toronto was definitely focusing him on specific things, but that CB is what could make him great...to give it up would be silly
    Today at 08:39:13 PM
  • Brent: An extra RP would be nice as well, b/c when your starter gets tired, he's more likely to give up hits/HRs.
  • redbeard82: I think it was Keith Law who said it was still straight in his write up of the trade. I haven't watched his MILB starts to verify though
    Today at 08:39:46 PM
  • redbeard82: true. every team should get a 26th man for Coors
    Today at 08:39:58 PM
  • redbeard82: just like a DH
  • Brent: Yeah, he was doing something with his CB which was changing it from a 65-70 pitch to a 55 pitch.
  • Brent: Developing a cutter and working on his CU.
  • Brent: BooYah! , Lester earning that $.
  • Scalious: I think it could work..if you build off strong/deep bullpen insted of trying to find SP that can handle coors.. Cuz that is just way more difficult. Never let a SP go 3rd time thru lineup.. Ever. You keep the arms fresh.. Bank on your offense to bleed away and comeback at times it needs too..
  • redbeard82: Aybody got a respectable bat to move in BTL?
  • Brent: Carter Capps, Carson Smith, Kenley Jansen, etc.  Guys that are hard to hit and have a high K/BB rate.  You could piece it together and grow your own RPs.
  • redbeard82: RPs are generally pretty easy to come up with
    Today at 08:53:35 PM
  • Brent: I wish someone would get Brandon Moss from me in BLB and also in NE.
