Washington/Vancouver trade
«
on:
December 21, 2019, 12:09:14 PM »
receives:
Danilo Gallinari 1(2020)
.5M pd in 2019 & 2020
receives:
Zhaire Smith 2.6(2021)
2nd Rd pick 2021
makes this trade to acquire another high upside young talent. Smith by all accounts has the upside to potentially be a star once he develops and I can afford to wait a bit on that development. While Gallinari has been solid, he was more valuable to me as a trade chip. Thanks and good luck to Vancouver.

Usually wait for both teams to confirm, but given last deal got vetoed will say still not a great deal for me, but it's clear both teams still want to do it and I did say adding 2nd may be enough to at least make it passable.
Waiting on confirmation and other feedback before voting.

Grizz confirm
Gallo will be traded soon in real-life so he won’t be a focal point in the offence wherever he goes like he is now where it's just him and CP3 and the youngster SGA. He'd be a 4th option mainly for stretching the floor wherever he lands.
Plus like RJ has said he's very much injury prone especially with the minutes he's been playing this year since OKC sucks. He won’t get 33+ minutes wherever he lands either, so production will dip.
If Smith and a 2nd doesn't get it done I don't see much else I can add, for all the reasons listed so far. People are probably looking at his per game averages but not his actual games played.
He’s a bench player for me in case of injury or rest down the stretch. Good for points, 3’s and some boards with good FT% but doesn’t get to the line that much in general.
**Also, it’s the SAS 2021 2nd Round pick that I own in this trade

Still consider Grizz getting the much better value, but a 2nd rounder being thrown in makes me feel a little better. Wizards are obviously maneuvering for the future, and if Gallinari doesn't hold a place in it, then an extra pick will and
maybe
Zhaire can carve out a role on his next team. Definitely don't love this trade, but it just barely flies in my book.

I don't like this trade.
But both parts agree and they gave a lot of reasons. Only time will say if Zhaire could become something but it seems difficul

When processed please send Zhaire to my G-League Roster and promote DeAnthony Melton to active roster.

Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding

Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

Greg Maddux had the best outlook. He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him. Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.

Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

There shouldn't be many innings available in FA in dynasty fantasy leagues IMO. Thats guaranteed money! To hell with High A ball.

The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development

With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.

This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.

Now either there are a lot of people copying our style or trying to learn it.. or possibly there is just that much interest by visitors. Maybe both. Either way, we got to be doing something right. The NHL LIVE season, will start with an amateur draft.
