Title: 76ers/LAL trade
Post by: IndianaBuc on September 21, 2019, 07:06:25 AM
LAL trade

PF/C John Collins
SG Kevin Huerter
NYK 2020 2nd Rounder

76ers trade

C Mitch Robinson
SG Zhaire Smith
PHI 2021 1st Rounder

76ers agree to the trade after a lengthy negotiation period.

I just want to point out that this trade will absolutely annihilate 76ers after the 2020 season. One of Collins, AD, Embiid, or Steph will not be financially retainable which forces them into a trade... but why would someone give up assets for players that may just hit the FA pool anyways? I would personally prefer Mitch to Collins (for that extra year mostly) in a straight vaccuum, but 76ers is also giving up far more in two other 1st round value players. The argument I see in favor is that the strongest 4-player squad in the league might reside in Philadelphia for 2 seasons (see other team in this trade). I don't like it; I'm leaning towards  :veto: but 76ers can make their case.

Lakers confirm the trade
Took us pretty well all summer to hash this one out

I give up probably the best player in Collins but wanted to shore up my blocks.
For me Collins > Robinson and Huerter > Smith so I get a slight pick upgrade.
Collins is a proven double double and Huerter played big minutes as a rookie last year and has no one stopping him this year and had an all around stat line including 3’s. Smith was injured all last year and doesn’t have the same offensive upside as Huerter especially shooting the 3.

As for Wiz’s comments, he’s wrong as Collins is an RFA so Philly has got 6 years of team control for Collins and 7 for Huerter.
AD will be franchise taggable and with some real-life contracts exporting the franchise tag won’t be that bad, AD will probable cost right around what he does currently, if not slightly less.

76ers have $37.6m in space right now for 2021. If AD goes for $2.1m less than his current apy, then there will be exactly 12.6m left to match whatever is bid on Collins and fill out a roster that is maxed out with 4 elite starters and bench players. I'm fine with people being cap negligent, but I want them to know the Crap they're getting into beforehand.

Hello Wiz, I do appreciate your concern of the 76ers in a couple years, but I assure you that I've been looking toward the future as well. I've been on this Forum for about 6yrs and have gone the route of drafting and grooming players just to see the league fold on the cusp of winning it. I hope its not the case with this league as we have a lot of young developing teams that should make BoD fun for the next few years.

I'm not going to stand in the way of people controlling their teams how they see fit, but your response ignores all of the valid and impending concerns for your team while asking me to trust in your future. I do not, and fully expect this to blow up in your face. If you want me to go into complete detail as to how this butchers you, then we can easily do so via pm... or not! Either way

Personally, I have no issue here. Aside from blocks, I think Collins is better than Robinson short and long term and Philly wants to try and win it all this year, I trust he will figure out his cap long term.

Despite some drama deal passes.  :judge:

Before I process please let me know what roster you want newly accquired guys.

Also, realize I forgot to update draft pick thread and Lakers are now Grizzlies so will update all at once.
