WAR UPDATE
WAR will begin the season on fantrax next week. The insuing results and standings will be considered "Spring Training Results".
The official WAR Regular Season will begin April 2020. 2019 off season will begin 8/1 with trading open.
FA wont begin until the league is full, all owners will be allowed to trade & release players however no signings until FA opens to include prospects.
Brent: When do we have to have our free drop posted?
Daddy: @Brent if you know the player, post away.
I will update contracts by the start of "spring training" monday.

When we take over a team, essentially for the 2020 season, are we taking on the 2020 contracts and beyond?
Example:
Say payroll for a team currently is $170m, but on Spotrac it is going to be $130m for 2020 due to expiring contracts.
Does that apply to us as well? ...So we would have to re-sign or let go of expiring contracts in our off-season?

It was supposed to be as of 4/1/19 but the draft happened and we allowed it.
Since the situation is fluid I could use opinion on the topic by the league.
It either has to be 4/1 or 7/1
I don't mind putting it to an open vote.

7/1 would include 2019 draft and leave out 2019 J2 Int FAs. That's not a bad idea.

I agree with Brent here. Gives new potential owners the chance to edit their rosters from the July 1st.

I am ok with 7/. Matter of fact i started adding thr first 3 rounds of players drafted this yr draft already

I don’t think 7/1 is a bad idea at all. Leaving the J2 international free agents for free agency, but giving draft picks makes a lot of sense.

I'd be fine with J-2 signings being allowed on their current teams but if the league wants them as FA then I'm cool with that too

7/1 seems to be a consensus and is unanimous amongst the mods so the rule regarding rosters has been updated.

Question on inherited contracts. I understand a guy like Votto, $22M (2024), but what about someone like Garrett who according to Spotrac becomes an FA in 2024, is his contract $570K (2023)?

Do any of the inherited contracts count as specs and therefore qualify for a prospect extension. I.E. Gary sanchez and Arron Judge would have been on PCs had the league been active when they entered the league. Can I give them prospect extensions or do all current MLB players have MLB contracts.

Contracts are as listed. An expiring PC Contract will end in 2019 and be eligible for the PC extension.

Does the 1 free drop have to be from your team or can it be a player aquired via trade?

You are allowed a free drop on players you inherit.
It's part of keeping in step with helping alleviate salary cap woes that were inherited.
You cannot trade for a $30m contract and then free drop that contract.
