Title: Hawks/Blazers Trade
Post by: Vik on August 08, 2019, 02:34:43 AM
Blazers trade:

PG Goran Dragic 2.5m 2019 (deal with Dallas passes just have to udate)
-1.2m paid by Dallas

Hawks trade:

C Thomas Bryant 0.5m 2021
-hawks pay this year only
SF Cedi Osman 5m 2021
-5m already paid this year

Bringing Osman back cause I need a SF badely and while he is nothing to write home about still helped out last year and should be decent again this year. Also like Bryant as a young depth C, and manage to save a little cap which is also nice

As I already told Brian, I have to  :veto:

Atlanta will only get 1 year from Dragic and with Jimmy Butler in Miami now, his role will be severely reduced too.

Bryant will be a double double with a couple of blocks per game now that he’s the #1 big man in Washington

Osman (B should know as a Cleveland guy) will be great this year. At the very least he’ll get great points and rebounds while getting good 3’s. And he’ll be better because as Brian pointed out, they’re a rebuilding team. No reason to sit him on the bench as a young kid.

Dragic is way past his prime and maybe the 3rd option now. Plus Atl only gets him for 1 year.
Osman and Bryant are 3 years

Just doesn’t make sense to me what so ever

I don't actually think this is that bad of a trade, namely because I don't like anyone involved in this trade  :afro:

I don't think the Richardson <=> Butler swap will hurt Dragic as much as WC is implying since Butler's better playmaking will help Dragic get better looks. I think Bryant will get minutes, but has never been great at grabbing boards, so I think he has a low ceiling. Osman is pretty insignificant to me as well and comes at a high price tag for a couple of seasons which is why I don't mind this for Atlanta.  :iatp:

While I agree, I’m not sure it’s a great trade, I don’t think it seems to be overly detrimental and therefore not with a veto.

I'm sorry guys but I have to  :veto:

I agree with all that West say. Osman's last month of the past season was great and he is very young. There is no reason to think that his numbers will decrease and he still has 3 more years of contract. And Bryant is going to have important minutes and he is gonna be almost a double double player.
All this for Dragic who had a bad last season and now with Butler i don't think he's gonna improve his numbers. I think only Osman has more value that Dragic and his only year left.

Trade passes :judge:

Will update later today

Thanks everyone for the input! I'm probably very very wrong on my valuation of the players, haha. And other things were pointed out to me, so overall the trade is fine.
