Title: International Pool Changes
Post by: chrisetc21 on January 14, 2017, 12:02:21 AM
As some of you may know, the way international pool money is allotted has changed in MLB.  Whereas before, money was allocated by record with the team with the best record receiving the least money ($2.027m last year) and the team with the worst record receiving the most money ($5.610m last year), now MLB is allocating money on a tiered system.  Their new system has three tiers, $5.75m, $5.25m, and $4.75m which are based on a team's market size from what I can gather.  Since we use a salary cap which makes the market size irrelevant, I don't really care for these changes.  Not to mention, equalizing the money this much gives a huge advantage to our best teams over our rebuilding teams which I think is unfair to those rebuilding teams and bad for the league in general.

So for future international pool allotments we're going to keep things as is.  Keeping the dollar amounts identical to last year and continuing to allot the pools according to record.

Just wanted to post this and give everyone an opportunity to comment but I feel this is the best way forward for our league.  Thanks.

I agree. Good decision to keep as is.
