After a competitive season that saw the improvement of several franchises, the 2016 FGM playoffs are upon us. The race to the playoffs were highlighted by some spirited deadline deals, some last minute free agent additions, and waiver wire activity.
In the American League, the :OAK: are matched up against the :TEX:. Both teams are led by FGM veterans in Miller Time and rcankosy, and it figures to be a very competitive battle between two AL West teams! The :OAK: begin their quest to become FGM's first back-to-back champion as they defend their 2015 World Series Championship. The :TEX: look to improve on their Cinderella run of a year ago--a run that saw them reach the AL Conference Finals.
In the National League, the :STL: return to the playoffs under the guidance of a new GM in RyanJames5. The :STL: are a former FGM champion, having won in 2013. The 2016 :STL: come into the Wildcard Round with the second best regular season record as they finished three games behind NL Central :CHC: with a record of 126-30-0. They will be heavily favored over the :NYM:. The :NYM: had a change in leadership during the season, and under the guidance of speedster18431, the :NYM: look to defy the odds and advance to the NLDS.
The other teams involved in the playoffs will be:
American League Division Champions
AL Central -- :CHW:
AL East -- :BAL:
AL West -- :SEA:
National League Division Champions
NL Central -- :CHC:
NL East -- :PHI:
NL West -- :SF:
Congratulations to all!!! :win:

Congrats to everyone who made the playoffs!!! Looking forward to an exciting finish!!! :win: :win: :winner: :winner: :afro:

American League
Texas Rangers ------ Oakland Athletics
1039.1 1471
National League
New York Mets ------ St. Louis Cardinals
1504.5 1330.3

Should be interesting finishes in both leagues:
National
Mets have a 174 pt. lead with two starters available for the finale. The Cards have no starters available on Sunday. Can they have a big day at the plate?
American
Oakland has a 400+ point lead and Luis Perdomo on the mound Sunday. Texas has 2 remaining starts and 4 SP available. Which 2 will he choose and will the big bats be able to overcome the deficit?
Good luck to all!

@8:21P East .6 pts separate :NYM: and :STL:

Item AII C-2.0 NLDS/ALDS Week #22
1.) The team with the best record in each league will have home field advantage against the team with the worst record in the league. However, such an opponent cannot be a team in that team's division. In this event, the team with the best record would play the Division Winner with the worst record.
2.) The #1 and #2 best teams in each league have home-field advantage in the NLDS/ALDS
Final score in the NL Wildcard matchup:
St. Louis Cardinals 1612.85
New York Mets 1561.83
According to rules the Cards advance to play the Phillies in St. Louis while the Cubs take on San Francisco in Chicago
In the American League:
Oakland As 2078.82
Texas Rangers 1510.76
Again, according to the rules, Seattle is home to play Baltimore; White Sox travel to Oakland
-
With games in progress, the NLDS is turning into a lopsided butt-kickin', while the ALDS remains close and competitive.
After a big opening night, the :CHC: are completely destroying my poor :SF:--at last count, the :CHC: were leading by some 500 points.
In the other NL matchup, the :PHI: have sprinted out to a 200 point lead over the :STL: After the Wildcard Round, we know the :STL: are capable of mounting a comeback.
In the ALDS, the :BAL: and :SEA: are separated by a mere 16 points, so it promises to be a hard fought contest to the end. The other AL contest finds the :CHW: with a 216 point lead over the :OAK:. We know the resilience of the :OAK: after last week, and as a defending champion, that match is far from over.
Matchups: Period 22 (Mon Aug 29, 2016 - Sun Sep 4, 2016)
Philadelphia Phillies 439.6 St. Louis Cardinals 227.8
San Francisco Giants 371.5 Chicago Cubs 862.2
Baltimore Orioles 452.2 Seattle Mariners 436.4
Chicago White Sox 514.8 Oakland Athletics 298.2

Hopefully :CHC: bats keep hitting! We're down to two SP lol
-
Cubs are my pick to go all the way. They have a great team!
-
My team picked the best time to have their worst week of the season. :puke:

My team picked the best time to have their worst week of the season. :puke:
I second that notion! :SEA: has struggled with pitching all season and now my hitting has left too.

As we begin play today, Saturday. September 3rd:

Congrats to the Cardinals on a great comeback yesterday!! Good luck the rest of the way!

Thanks Papps. Not sure how we keep doing it on Sunday. Hope I can keep it up though! Great battle this week!

FGM will have a new Champion in 2016, as the :CHW: derailed the aspirations of the reigning Champion :OAK:. The :CHW: will face upstart :BAL: in the ALCS after the :BAL: dispatched :SEA: in convincing fashion.
The NLCS will feature two division rivals in :CHC: and :STL:, who, incidentally, had the two best regular season records in FGM. :STL: came through with yet another amazing "Sunday comeback" in defeating last year's FGM World Series runner-up :PHI:. The :CHC: crushed the :SF: enroute to their NLCS matchup.
From the ALCS and the NLCS shall emerge the 2016 FGM World Series combatants. Good luck to all as we look forward to a week of exciting competition! :toth:
-
Congrats to :BAL: for a well earned victory.
-
Two days in the books, and here's where we stand, with the FGM World Series on the horizon.
:BAL: 373 -- :CHW: 231
:CHC: 520 -- :STL: 374
The :BAL: and the :CHC: continue to have the hot hands. Will the :CHW: find the magic formula that got them this far?? Do the :STL: have another amazing comeback in their arsenal??
Stay tuned for five more days of ALCS and NLCS rumbling!!
-
:taco: Update....Update....Update :bacon:
As we head into the final three days of the ALCS and the NLCS, there has been a change in the winds of fortune.
BAL 537 -- CHW 849
STL 615 -- CHC 1057
The :CHC: have continued to rely on their big boppers and have stretched their lead over the :STL:. Their Windy City counterparts, the :CHW:, have flexed their muscles and have streaked to a sizable lead over the :BAL:.
Could we have a Windy City World Series matchup?
Stay tuned. :disco:
-
Who needs pitching?! Hah. Great matchup so far. Just hope another STL comeback isn't in the works.
-
The FGM World Series is set! The :CHW: vs. the :CHC:
-
The city of Chicago is a good place to be right now! Good luck :CHW: (but not too much good luck)!
-
The finals is two weeks right? Hopefully? This is the most embaressing finals week ever I think lol, both teams under 400pts right now!

A lot left to unfold. This is only the first of two weeks!
-
At the half way point of the FGM World Series :CHC: (951.81) holds a 51 point advantage over :CHW:
(900.43). Essentially a tie.
Should be a good finish. Good Luck to both teams!
-
Three games left in the World Series and we are due for an exciting finish.
:CHC: (1331.01) has a 103pt. lead over :CHW: (1229.43) and it looks like both teams are running out of gas. Neither team has scored 400 points in this, the final week of the series and season.
Can the Chisox reach back and get a little extra this weekend or will the Cubs win a squeaker? Stay tuned!
-
Way too close for comfort!
Doesn't help both of our teams are down to 1 or 2 SP. I think Sox will finish with 3 total starts and Cubbies with 2 lol. Should make for a close finish though, lets see whos bats can carry the series. Good luck Sox!
-
Cubs win! Cubs win! They have shed the Curse of the Goat!
:CHC: 2016 FGM Champion! :win:
-
Fitting haha... maybe shed the curse the same year as the IRL Cubbies! That one was so close though!
-
Congrats to the Cubs on a great season! Well done!!! :winner:
-
Congratulations Cubbies!!!!!
-
Congrats Cubbies... Too many injuries for the pale hose to overcome
