VEGAS and CALGARY DEAL GOALIES PLUS DEPTH

Vegas and Calgary complete a trade to move 1B goalies and role players. We believe guys like Martinsen and Rowney will give us more value than the group we sending north. In Vegas, we're building for the present and this gives us some roster flexibility as we start the season.


Traded to Calgary Flames 
:COL-NHL: Thomas Greiss, $6.7m (2017-2021)
Scott Hartnell, $3.4m (2016-2019)
Sergey Tolchinsky, $2.1m (2017-2020)
Gabriel Dumont, $0.4m (2017-2019)
Ryan Mantha, $0.2m (2017-2019)
Jacob Middleton, $0.7m (2017-2019)
RW - Zach Nastasiuk (2013: 2/48 - 0 Games)


Traded to the Vegas Golden Knights
Petr Mrazek, $5.5m (2015-2019)
Andreas Martinsen, $0.6m (2018-2020)
Carter Rowney, $0.7m (2018-2020)

:iatp: Just noticed Hartnell called it a career today. Since this deal was before the trade I'll say it was a good gamble to take on Hartnell given his small extension cost but that's a tough break for the Flames. I also like Greiss more than Mrazek but the latter has age on his side.

:iata: In hindsight the addition of Hartnell was a bad cap hit, but at the time it was a great gamble.
