Detroit confirms. Ukko-Pekka has a promising future, but Ghost is quite a huge difference maker on the back-end and we feel like this deal will help us a lot this season.

NJ needs to find a future keeper and UPL is listed at 8 of top 12. Good scouting department in Detroit...

For comparison Hart has a 9.5 rating and Samsonov a 10

I need some approvals here; NJ thinks this is a very fair deal. We’re clearing significant cap space during FA buying season. Goalie prospects generally cost a goalie in return.

There are other sources touting UPL.

You probably need to stay off that Dobber site lol.

I guess bad trades are part of the game but I don't know if even Stan Bowman would have made that one. No collusion though so whatever.

UPL has the talent, but only 55% chance he makes it. Samsonov is 85%.

Detroit wins by getting a proven, top D man now. NJ could see a return down the road, as Buffalo has no G in their system to block UPL.

Yeah at most this tilts an eyebrow, just one. UPL has the skill set and size (6'4) that NHL GMs like. Just on his size alone i think Buffalo's GM gets him in a Saber sweater in 2 or 3 years

Still need another vote or three

Note: NJ picked up Maroon with that Ghost money so NJ is coming out ahead in points production and some cap savings and a Goalie spec showing up on multiple sites as elite potential. If he was more nhl certain he probably isn’t available

Additional note: it could be a 16-17 version of Gost that shows up again this year for $6.6m

:iatp: If that's what NJ wants to do. So be it man.

Question from the Commissioner:
Why does NJ want to make this trade beside the fact it was accepted by DET.

I regret selling Schneider more than I’ll regret moving a D making 6.6m for a possible better version of shaky jakey.

I clearly place less worth on Gost than others. 1.5-1.7ppg at that coin is not a great deal.

Again this time of year I’m able to add Maroon with the free dollars.

:iatp: There must be a bigger plan behind these NJ deals because trading Allen, Johnson Ghost JVR Schneider  to get Alex Lyon, spec G, 1st - 16th, 1st, 17th?, Backes doesn't feel like the usual AntMan MO. I get you are clearing cap and signing FAs like Maroon, Dano, and Matt Martin but yeah whatever. Fun to watch from the bleachers.
