Preds/Sens Deal

Nashville wants to fine tune the well oiled machinery in the boiler room. We feel there's some improvements worth making sooner than later.

Going to Preds :NAS:
Casey Cizikas, $2.1m (2017-2020)
Pontus Aberg, $0.6m (2018-2020)

Going to Sens :OTT:
Ivan Barbashev, $0.9m (2018-2021-EL)
Mark Pysyk, $2.8m (2017-2020)
Round 3 - 2019  (from :NAS:)

We're hoping Aberg gets back on the ice after getting Press Box duty the last 2 games. Barbashev has a great future ahead of him but we want to shore up our pivot position with some experience. Thanks EndGame. :toast:

Sens agree. We like the players we're getting in return. We had a ton of Centers but we're getting a C/RW that has good upside still in Ivan Barbashev and like getting a D back too. The draft pick is always welcome in Ottawa. Good talking to you Burke! :toast:

:iatp: I like this trade because of the potential it bring each team. I think Aberg was a Free Agent pickup in the Fall and that's worked out for Ottawa and to parlay that into some additional building blocks is a smart move for the Sens here.

:iatp: Got to give the win to Nashville for plugging some holes in their championship roster not that there are any to speak of. Pysyk isn't a huge factor these days and not sure if Barbashev will develop the way some thought he would.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development
