:trade: Utah & Minnesota have agreed on trade

Utah to trade SF Mikal Bridges $3.2M (2022)

Minnesota to trade PF Tristan Thompson  $2.5M (2021)

Utah has a lineup with to many SG and needs another PF/C to compete in league. Minnesota to confer.

Timberwolves agree to this trade as we look at youth movement and the fact that Brudges is 5 years younger than Thompson.

:iatp: Fairly straightforward. I like Bridges a lot more personally, but Utah needed big men.

I’m going to throw out the first veto on this one.

No hard feelings to either side.

My reasoning is this:

- Bridges is a lot younger and has a ton of upside from what I see, while Thimpson’s value will literally never get higher than it is right now, given he’s one of a few bigs that are healthy in CLE and especially due to Love is out. He won’t grab that many rebounds and get that many touches when Love is healthy

- Thompson was literally just signed in FA. Utah could have just bid on Thompson in FA and got him for free, rather than having to give up and young up and coming player

- If, and big IF... Utah was in a strong position to make playoffs and contend, this deal would make a lot more sense. However, Htah is 0-4 so far and has already traded away their best player at the time, Brandon Ingram. If Utah was in a playoff spot or I though they had a shot at marking playoffs, then maybe adding TT makes a little sense.
For me, it’s more of a rebuild and looking to next year type of team, in which case swapping Bridges for TT makes zero sense. Positionallu they could figure all that out in the off-season and make roster moves at that time

Again, zero hard feelings to either side.
I just done see a legit reasoning for making the trade for a winless 0-4 Utah squad.

Another trade in the long list of questionable trades in BoD.  It's very hard to gauge the value of players with the unique (contract) rule set.  Big men normally hit their prime around 27/28 so TT is just hitting his prime and is on a good contract for a double/double guy.  It helps that the real Cavs are garbage so he'll get his stats for the foreseeable future.

Bridges has more value going forward, but based on the current players production this trade is passable.

I've got no real issue with player for player given how well Thompson has played this year, I do agree the major factor that makes the deal a little tough to approve is that Thompson could have been won as FA by Utah (I guess maybe they would have got in a bidding war and he might have went for too much). Either way, after some though I don't see this it a big enough issue so

I have always have said sense day one if 2 owners agree to a trade as long as it isn't collusion going on then I'm ok with teams trading. Not sure why everyone is so high on TT because only reason he is actually playing good is because of love being injured but that's just my opinion. I kinda agree with the previous 2 owners voting on trade. I think over all I think bridges will be a better player overall but that's just me. Ill  :iatp. Because I don't feel that this trade is unfair to with owner

  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.

  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did

  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide

  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
