How it works!
Their odds based on final ranking will determine who will get each pick. Like the real NHL draft each team could possibly win draft lottery. Only the teams that do not make the playoffs have a chance to win the lottery. The winner of the lottery will get the 1st overall pick in the draft but the draft order will remain as set for rounds 2 to 5 by the final rankings. The odds are as follows:
20th - 26%
19th - 22%
18th - 16%
17th - 12%
16th - 9%
15th - 7%
14th - 5%
13th - 3%
12th through 1st - 0%
Each of these odds will be times by 100 and done in a random number generator (random.org) from 1 - 10000. So therefore the 18th place team will have numbers from 1 - 2600 and 17th place will have from 2601 to 4600, and so on until the 9th place team which has numbers 9801-10000.
