Glad the Washington GM got fired :puke:
-
Good idea to revisit these picks. Wow. Some picks were just plain bad.
-
NJ will take Gibson... the Nuge hasn’t been quite as advertised although he’s put up respectable seasons.
Colorado is ok w Huberdeau at 4.
-
This should be fun. By the 3rd and 4th rounds, you really have to have a scouting department or follow junior & college hockey to find the right prospects. I'm ready to do this anytime. Giddyup boys!
-
Even back in the day, Papps didn't believe in the draft. :PHI-NHL: had no picks in 2011. LOL
-
Binnington got picked in 2nd and 4th round. Sharks hit the HR, likely BB with the way he drafts.
-
2011 was the first FNHL draft and you could tell no one bothered with Goalies until round 2 when John Gibson got picked by Nashville.
-
ROUND 1
11. :LAK: LA - Sven Baertschi
ROUND 2
11. :LAK: LA - Christopher Gibson
ROUND 3
11. :LAK: LA - Reid Boucher
ROUND 4
11. :LAK: LA Josh Shalla
Oh man. Brutal! Rough start to the franchise's storied history in FNHL. I know it's hindsight and the 2011 draft wasn't the deepest but these picks were rough to revisit. Hope to do better so that future Kings owners can look back with some pride. :toast:
Good idea to do a redraft. Very cool.
-
Brutal is what the Canucks drafted no picks in first two rounds then Anthony Camara and Magnus Nygren no NHL games between them in round 3 and 4.
Can’t blame GM for not having the first and second round pick as was going for the cup, and ended up 3rd best team.
If that every happens to me, can someone pass me large amounts of this  so I end up like this :puke: so can’t remember feeling like this
-
:SJ: SJ had some 2 great picks out of 3. :win:
Rd1
6. - Adam Larsson
Rd2
6. San Jose- Zack Phillips
Rd3
No Pick
Rd4
21. San jose via Florida John Gaudreau :winner:
It'll be interesting to see who gets in Rd1 in the redraft.
-
I think we should just get this going. What do you guys think?
-
I'm up for this. Let's go.
-
Vegas was just a thought back in 2011. Guess we'll sit this out.
-
I like the players Calgary drafted. Just not sure where they are now. haha
-

FNHL was once a free league where people tried to do hockey and bailed.
-
#2 :EDM: OTC not that there's a time limit for this for-fun redraft.
-
#2 :EDM: OTC not that there's a time limit for this for-fun redraft.
Jonathan OTC
-
Tell Jonathan he can make a pitstop to fill in the re-draft form.
-
I believe I jumped into the thick of the draft starting in Round 2 when I joined Franchise NHL. It was exciting times being the first Entry Draft. In hindsight I must say I made some savvy choices albeit my Round 4 selection of Gregory Hofmann is clearly questionable seven year later.
-DD
-
Is Jonathan going to make a redraft pick?
-
Johnny Gaudreau :o
-
Johnny Gaudreau :o
:iatp: Fantastic choice!
-
9. :OTT: (from :DAL-NHL:; :WIN:) - Ryan Murphy
Ryan Murphy was supposed to be the next Karlsson. He's apparently not. But with the NHL seemingly headed towards smaller fast moving players, this guy might actually resurface soon. Currently with NHL's Wild after getting drafted 12th overall by the Canes.
-
For sure some of the guys who got picked in Round 2 are 1st rounders this time around.
-
Apparently FNHL Buffalo's big prospect from the 2011 draft was Matt Nieto in Round 2. Crap! No wonder the Sabres have been drinking wine in the cellar for years.

Well by adding old man Price to your roster you might be contributing to your wine tasting adventures in the FNHL cellar.
-
Johnny Gaudreau :o
A number on guys could've easily gone #1 or #2 overall in this redraft. Johnny Hockey is a solid pick.
-
Kucherov was the best player, but I took one of my guys. Good Karma :P

2. :EDM: - John Gaudreau - FNHL 4/111; NHL 4/104 (Sean Couturier)
3. :STL-NHL: - Gabriel Landeskog OTC
To move this along, #3 pick will be Nikta Kucherov.
:COL-NHL: OTC
-
I think this is stuck in neutral.
-
It's all in the name of fun. Even if this draft takes all season to complete there is no impact to our teams.
-
Colorado is sticking with Huberdeau at 4
-
5. :ANA: - (2011 pick Ryan Strome) - OTC
I think Anaheim can do way better this time around.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
-
5. :ANA: - (2011 pick Ryan Strome) - OTC
I think Anaheim can do way better this time around.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I think Strome lost his mojo after a few yrs in Long Island. He was supposed to be the next Selanne-type player. He was a scoring machine in junior. Of course so was Patrick Roy's son Fred Roy but he's been out of pro hockey for half a decade now. Wonder if Strome will ever get back on track.
-
I'd say not a chance in hell while Ryan's in Edmonton.
-
I'd say 7 yrs later, Colorado made the right pick for them. This message was approved by Washington Management.
-
8. :DAL-NHL: (from :OTT:, :EDM:) - Douggie Hamilton
Stars taking Hamilton at #8 was a great pick. He'll probably go even higher in this redraft.

-
7. :MON-NHL: - Mika Zibanejad (old pick 2011) - Mark Scheifele (new pick 2018)
Going with the bigger surprise of the 2011 draft in Scheifele over Vincent Trocheck. Both great players.
-
7. :MON-NHL: - Mika Zibanejad (old pick 2011) - Mark Scheifele (new pick 2018)
Going with the bigger surprise of the 2011 draft in Scheifele over Vincent Trocheck. Both great players.
Given Ducks took Mark with the 5th overall pick. So we'll go with your 2nd choice Vincent.
5. :ANA: FNHL pick - Mark Scheifele - FNHL 1/10; NHL 1/7 (Ryan Strome)
6. :SJ: - Dougie Hamilton - FNHL 1/8; NHL 1/9 (Adam Larsson)

8. :DAL-NHL: (from :OTT:, :EDM:) - Gabriel Landeskog - FNHL 1/3; NHL 1/2 (Dougie Hamilton)
9. :OTT: (from :DAL-NHL:; :WIN:) - (Ryan Murphy) OTC
-
9. :OTT: (from :DAL-NHL:; :WIN:) - Ryan Murphy
We'll take Ryan Nugent-Hopkins because he's a damn good pick at #9!!!!
Oh man, was Ryan Murphy such a poor choice in hindsight.
I have a general rule of thumb for NHL drafts, avoid picking anyone with the name "Murphy". You can likely claim them off waivers or sign them as a Free Agent at some point.
10. :NJD: OTC
-
Rickard Rakell - Devils
-
11. :LAK: LA - Sven Baertschi was drafted in 2011. In the redraft, :LAK: takes Brandon Saad

These teams are next
12. :CAR-NHL: Carolina
13. :PIT-NHL: Pittsburgh from Washington
14. :OTT: Ottawa via Edmonton via Philidelphia
15. :BOS-NHL: Boston

Can't wait to get a pick in.

Doesn't look like Buffalo gets to pick until the back-half of the 2nd Rd. That might take a few months to get to. Just saying.

12. :CAR-NHL: Carolina Oscar Klefbom

The Pens will not take (http://profsl.com/smf/Smileys/default/PIT-NHL.png) Pittsburgh from Washington - Jonas Brodin
And will instead take Sean Couturier (who I believe is still available)
-
14. :OTT: Ottawa via Edmonton via Philidelphia - Stefan Noesen
We still like Noesen but just not in the 1st round.
This time around, with the 14th overall pick Ottawa selects Center - Mika Zibanejad who was taken 6th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. That's good value right there! :toast:
15. :BOS-NHL: OTC
-
Re-Draft List updated. Currently at Pick #15 Rd1. :judge:
-
#15 :BOS-NHL: takes Ondrej Palat who went undrafted in FNHL and was only taken in the 7th rd 208th overall. I would love a team of Palats.
-
16. :CHI-NHL: Chicago - Jamie Oleksiak 2011, the 2018-19 edition of the Blackhawks will select Andrew Shaw who was drafted 139th overall (Round 5) by the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks.
:TBL: OTC at #17
-
Looks like neither Palat nor Shaw got drafted in FNHL. Wow! Guess 2011 FNHL scouting departments had tight budgets.
Quite the surprise today! Back in 2011, a 5'10 Andrew Shaw didn't register well on the radars of most scouts. He did grow another inch since. Both players play key roles on their respective teams in the NHL.
-
17. :TBL: Tampa bay- Matt Puempel OTC in 2018 redraft
-
Ottawa Sens can only dream about what might have been if we actually drafted these 2 players back in 2011:
9. :OTT: (from :DAL-NHL:; :WIN:) - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - FNHL 1/1; NHL 1/1 (Ryan Murphy)
14. :OTT: Ottawa via Edmonton via Philidelphia - Mika Zibanejad - FNHL 1/7; NHL 1/6 (Stefan Noesen)
RNH and Zibanejad would be anchoring our FWD lines nightly and we'd be that much closer to a Championship. But that's OK, we're making progress since I took over and that's what counts now.
-
17. :TBL: Tampa bay- Matt Puempel OTC in 2018 redraft
:TBL: still OTC

I remember Puempel badmouthed the Sens on his way out of Ottawa heading towards the Rangers. Where is Puempel nowadays? He had some decent upside as a junior player.

AHL fodder. Puempel has passed through the watchful gaze of 5-6 different NHL coaching staffs and hasn't impressed any of them to stick around the NHL. What does that tell us all?!!

:iatp: Couldn't agree more. The truth is attitude counts for a lot in pro sports and no team wants a player who's going to bad mouth an organization or the league. Best to bury those types in the minors.

ROUND 2
2. :OTT: Ottawa - Vladimir Namestnikov
If I am not mistaken, I submitted that Round 2 selection on behalf of Ottawa. The 2011 entry draft seems like a lifetime ago.
-
I think Pens are deep in thought and might've fallen asleep. Time to hit the auto pilot button that :PIT-NHL: pick at #19.
-
Pens are busy contending. They have no use for what could've been. They're living in the here and now brother. :toast:
-
You can't blame the Pens owner. He's got a lot of competition in Metro Division.

Detroit will with a guy that they liked for a while and ended up traded for before his breakout, C William Karlsson from Vegas. We're happy to pick him now, and we'll be happy to extend him in the off-season.

It's safe to say Ottawa Senators will not be redrafting Nicklas Jensen with the 28th overall pick.

We're still dreaming the "WHAT IF" dream of drafting Dougie Hamilton in the #6 hole of the redraft. Sharks' original pick of Adam Larsson seems a far cry from the total package skill set of Hamilton.

:NYR: Rangers took Danault back in 2011 and Lowry during this re-draft. Either player would be fine for NYR.
