Islanders do the trade to get younger and add the really good goalie prospects. since Im not going to be able to compete with the top 5 teams I trade my 2 oldest players.

I've been shopping Sorokin and my 1st for a while. My roster is more in a win now mode, and Marchand and Rinne help with that. Especially getting them for essentially free this coming year. Girard is a nice young piece, but became a bit expendable when Colorado drafted Byram. I see him and Makar the future 1st pairing. Thanks for the talks and deal!

Love this trade for the Avs, but not so much for my Canucks because I have to fight against them haha.

As Norry mentioned, I'm not sure I see Girard's long-term upside with Makar their #1 and Byram could become their #1, if not #2 at worst. He's a stud.

Getting those guys for a discount is a huge bonus. Sorokin is Russian and lit up the KHL, and that's scary. If they don't treat him right (ie. AHL or back-up minutes) I see him just bolting back over to Russia.

Good risk for NYI to take though in a rebuild (although for some reason I remember NYI paying a lot to get Rinne...)

no it actualy started a big fight because some thought I didnt pay enough for Rinne
