Post by: jmtrops on September 02, 2020, 10:01:15 AM
at this point we need to vote on weather to do it or not then if it passes we can figure out how to do it.

So two weeks later 25% of the league still hasn't voted. Let's hope common sense prevails.

Why try to find new owners when we still have too many MIA owners?

we have had 13 votes here and 13 votes in the draft pole. for a long time I was one of those missing votes mostly because I didnt feel I was enough of an expert to voice my opinions so the missing voters dont concern me too much. also with the pandemic going on we dont know about their personnel situation. so with the vote the way it is and with the season closing in on us I think we should compromise a little here.
For this year I can run the teams until we find owners for them. at the end of our regular season we revisit this. did we find new owners and did we lose any other owners? If we did not find new owners or lossed some owners then we contract. this also gives everyone time to prepare for a contraction draft or contraction FA with their decisions to extend players and make trades. I think thats the biggest problems with contracting now is everyone has done their extensions and made a ton of trades already.
so what do you guys think.

:iatp: I still understand support for contracting now, but I think this reasoning makes a lot of sense and holding off until next offseason to decide should be the direction we take.

100% agree. Every single gm has logged in except for 3 within the last 2 days. Pandemic is no excuse for voting. NY, DET, CAR. Nice to hear from BUF and MIN given their activity in this league.  This league has been more than extremely generous with the extensions this year. Given the MIA teams, one team hasn't even had the courtesy, even though logged in, to have given extensions to their team, CAR. Also, heard from teams voting that haven't had the courtesy to set roster last year and beyond that for the most part. Not fun playing against teams who randomly set roster when they feel like it. I know the gm with the first pick could care less. "It's his style", excuse me but bug off. This league has some great gm's Slack, Tony, Jlapo, cloud, Drew Anthony...etc sorry if I left you out.. Maybe we should start our own league!

Empathy and subtleness are not two of my strong attributes. No Appoligies.

the reality is fantasy sports is just not that import for some and only do it because its fun. If you want a league with only serious and committed players we would have to cut down to 12 teams. of coarse if you started another league for the very serious players I would be into it since I have had 2 multisport leagues die that I was in.

I totally didn’t even see this until yesterday. Summers are usually unbelievably busy as I work for a seasonal company. I did vote now though

The reality is you just answered the question regarding contraction. Also, what if I bench my team for the entire season because I want Aatu Raty, and the same in 2 yrs. because I want Shane Wright. No repercussions right, it's only fun. No seriousness.

Conduct Code:  For the purpose of defining conduct and responsibilities of General Managers.

1.  All managers must remain active here at ProFSL. 2 weeks of unexplained inactivity, on the entire ProFSL site, will be grounds for dismissal from this league.  League management will send a personal email to you before dismissal from Backyard NHL.  If you do not respond within 1 week your employment will be terminated.
If you are going to be away please let the commissioner know by PM or email so you are not removed from the league.

2.  Language, keep it clean.  As a moderator I will discipline and recommend action by the mod-team.

3.  Be respectful to other managers.  Please answer your trade inquiries, even if with a simple 'no thank you'. This means answer PMs that other managers send you.

4.  It is the responsibility of the Rules Committee to interpret the rules.  The Commissioner's office will be the final arbitrator in any disputes of the rules.

5. Managers are to maintain their line-ups on the fantrax website. If general managers are deemed to be intentionally "throwing" a season they will be removed and replaced in the league.

6. All managers are to remain active on the Backyard forum page by asking questions, discussing match-ups, rule discussion, etc. Managers that don't remain active may be subject to warnings/removal.

I did vote for contraction but I think its better to do it before we do all the off season stuff for our teams, everyone will be better prepared. It will also give us a chance to see who is not a good fit with our league. I can see us going down to 16 teams at the end of the season. no offence to others who ran the league last year but the inactivity starts at the top and most of us could have been more active to keep it running smoother.
in regards to benching your lineup to tank that will never be ok. the problem we have with that is does someone have to check everyone every week to make sure they are checking there line up? it would be better if everyone in the league takes some responsibility with this and check the team you are playing that week and if they are not notify me so I can see if it was just a one time thing or not. one person is not going to be able to do all the checking up on people. on this subject I wouldnt mind a rule that you have to have a minimum # of games play by your players every week so a team cant set there lineup with all minor leaguers to tank the season. to me this not good for any league and is not realistic.
