Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Lightning & Blues Trade
« on: September 20, 2014, 02:52:18 PM »
:TBL: sends:
G Kevin Poulin $3.4m (2012-2015)
D Frank Corrado $0.6m (2014-2016)
:TBL: 1st rd pick

:STL-NHL: sends:
RW Scottie Upshaw $0.4m (2013-2015)
:STL-NHL: 3rd rd pick (2015)

Tampa does this deal to gain $3.6m in cap and a serviceable RW in Upshall who is a proven commodity at a thin position. It was tough to move my 1st rd pick, but I am betting that it will not be a premium pick as we hope that Lightning strikes the playoffs..the 3rd rounder in return also helps to cushion the blow.

Upshaw is on a sweet deal, & provides us the kind of depth, scoring we needed to help us compete for almost no $$$, allowing us to call up some excellent forwards as well. It was a mistake grabbing Poulin & Corrado in hindsight due to subsequent trades & this deal opens up the cap & roster spots needed to correct those mistakes while also providing a decent RW.

Thanks Ripper for the pro talks & good luck in the Loo. :toth:

Blues to confirm

Franchise NHL: Completed Transactions / Re: Hurricane/Lightning deal
« on: September 20, 2014, 12:24:14 AM »
:CAR-NHL: sends:
Justin Faulk, $3.9m (2013-2016)

:TBL: sends:
Luke Schenn, $5.8m (2012-2016)
:TBL: 2nd

Daddy was looking to save a couple bucks however he could so he approached me about swapping dmen. I feel that Faulk has more value long term then Schenn because of their place on their team's depth chart, the amount of ice time the players get, and the fact that Schenn has proven to be inconsistent, so I asked for the pick that comes back be his second in what looks to be a very deep draft next year. He agreed so here we are. This deal also helps to diversify the team; as 1/6th of my team is on the Hurricanes in real life.

Thanks for the quick deal, Daddy.
:TBL: makes this deal mainly to gain another $2m in cap, while not dropping $2m in productivity. If Schenn > Faulk it isnt by $2m (insert 2nd rd pick here)..although we like Faulks long term upside much better than Schenn anyway & at 22yrs old he is an excellent fit for the diaper dandy Bolts.

Tampa is very young, but if we realize some of this potential we can make a strong push for a long time.

Thanks Favo, & good luck with the Canes :toth:

:TBL:
Is putting its entire 2015 draft on the block for the sole purpose of making a cap friendly deal. We would like to clear roughly $6m and there are a few teams that can easily accomodate.

:TBL: 1st rd (2015)
:TBL: 2nd rd (2015)
:TBL: 3rd rd (2015)
:TBL: 4th rd (2015)
:COL-NHL: 4th rd (2015)

This is a stupid br0ken ph0ne trade s0 I will keep it brief.

Le0n Draisaitl
4th

F0r

Zach Fucale

With this m0ve I am freeing myself 0f a $3m c0mmitment f0r a r00kie. I d0 think Draisaitl will beat Arc0bell0 f0r the #2 piv0t in Edm0nt0n but $3m is t00 rich f0r me.

In return I gain a blue-chip g0alie pr0spect that will appreciate in value as the seas0n m0ves al0ng. He is a ways fr0m reaching the NHL but I have full c0nfidence that when he d0es his value will be immense.

Cheers t0 Daddy f0r the deal!
:TBL: confirms

Avalanche sends:
C - Leon Draisaitl (2014: 1/3 - 0 Games)
Colorado 4th rd (2015)

Lightning sends:
G - Zachary Fucale (2013: 2/36 - 0 Games)
G - Zachary Pascale (2013: 2/36 - 0 Games)

Me and my Smoking Gun "Man Crushes"..You know boys somewhere in the middle of my rebuild I looked at JVR, Landeskog, Nichushkin, Forsberg, Hedman, Campbell, etc. etc. etc. & thought to myself hmm..maybe I can make just a little noise sooner than later.

I love Pascale & his tremendous upside however I really like the more immediate prospect impact Leon Draisaitl can make to this team. Already owning Niemi/Stalock & backing them with Jack Campbell, i just felt Draisaitl is a better fit. Did I mention that I love this kid? ALOT!

I appreciated the talks as always in FNHL, very professional SJ. Good Luck bud :toast:

  • dbreer23: Take two to tango, though. Most owners with adequate or surplus SP aren't interested in prospects as they're trying to win now.

  • Daddy: Agreed. But most does not equal all.

  • Braves155: My issue in LIVE currently is having Strider/Alcantara/Giolito all on the long shelf, so I am more retooling than rebuilding
    May 05, 2024, 02:46:48 PM
  • Daddy: Also agreed. Top quality pitching probably means not much depth. A few injuries can challenge you. Pitching other than top end pitching has been devalued in fantasy. Everyone wants the stud.

  • Daddy: I here to tell you that ALL major league pitching is good pitching. A great hitter beats a terrible pitcher just 3 out of 10 times. Which means the worst pitchers > the greatest hitters.

  • Brent: Greg Maddux had the best outlook.  He viewed himself as tye dealer/house and you had to beat him.  Just like in the casino, the house nearly always wins.

  • Brent: He had that view b/c of his father who was a blackjack dealer in Vegas.
    May 05, 2024, 04:35:28 PM
  • Daddy: Yes @Brent!! That is it exactly. Pitching is the house & it always wins in the end.

  • Daddy: There shouldn't be many innings available in FA in dynasty fantasy leagues IMO. Thats guaranteed money! To hell with High A ball.

  • Braves155: The problem with the minors is not the system as a whole, it is some Farm Systems are more 'elite' at being able to produce talent than others. If you look across MLB teams you can pretty easily tell the great systems from the weaker systems and talent development

  • Braves155: With regard to pitching in the Minors...there is  method to the madness. It is all about what you make of it tho. I agree that it can seem certain type arms in the minors are a dime a dozen

  • Daddy: Mr Braves you are my guy. There isnt anything wrong with minor league studs or flops. I get it in REAL baseball.
    May 05, 2024, 06:20:28 PM
  • Daddy: This is fantasy baseball. We dont generate revenue selling prospects and merchandising. Our top farms dont get a write up in Sports Illustrated.
    May 05, 2024, 06:22:29 PM
  • Daddy: Load up on MLB guys, then near MLB guys, and only then is the quality of your prospects matter. Ya dig ;)
