Wow, big trade. I like it for both sides, although I figured NOP was going to be in a competing mind-frame. Maybe they've got grander plans though.
Blake for free this year is a huge pick-up for ATL.
Plus, in 3 years time, our franchise tag values will have gone down after all of our "original real-life" contracts are up, so franchising Blake could be at a decent price point, unless free agency gets way out of hand. So really he could be controllable for 7 years, depending on if other expiring deals happen at the same time as Griffin that would be franchise tag eligible.
That said, Blake is also 30 years old, so franchise tagging a 33 year old Blake Griffin would be a decision in itself. But that's 3 years from now!
ATL adding Griffin, LaVine and maybe another FA should help them do better than last season!
