They have a nice interface that makes it pretty easy to plow through each team's protected list and see your team.
-
This is a nice tool too: https://www.sbnation.com/a/las-vegas-golden-knights-expansion-draft-nhl?naldnpqlnfkoknfdkaxgnoilwuqhsb
I've been messing around, but haven't put together a full roster yet.
-
Will you too stop playing with your "tools" and make a list already.
-
Should we make a list of who we would take or who Vegas will take? Because they are going to get loads of 1st round picks to take the garbage out for other teams instead of picking the best player left exposed.
-
i had said the players vegas will take. but either way, its all for fun

I went with people who are either going to be controllable for many years with room to grow, or pieces to be traded at the deadline.

Thats a bold strategy to select Strome from the Islanders twice and not select anyone from the Rangers!

Really would rather have two Stromes, but guess I'll pick another goalie.
-
How does Vegas not get more out of the Ducks? They take on salary and don't pick Vatanen/Manson and in return they get Shea Theodore
Why would they pick Emelin over Hudon? Maybe they have a trade worked out to get a better prospect.
Do you take Dumba/Scandela/Brodin over Haula, Tuch and a 3rd round pick? I probably take the defenseman and flip them.
I think what was said most by the draft is there is no goalie market and teams will be clambering for defense.

My thing is how do they accept a trade from the to essentially not take anyone especially Strome! There shouldn't be any being nice in this!

The Wild selection just blows my mind. Vegas selected Haula and Minnesota traded them Tuch but Minnesota received the 3rd round draft pick. So Minnesota traded Alex Tuch for a 3rd round draft pick so Vegas would select Haula (Someone the wild wouldn't have resigned anyways) instead of Dumba, Staal or Scandella.
Seems like Vegas would have been better off taking Dumba and keeping the 3rd round pick and just trying to sign Haula in regular free agency. I'm not complaining as a Wild fan though. We came out of the draft way better then I thought we would!
-
I got to agree... I think trading guys like Dumba and Vatanen on the open market (and possibly even retaining salary to make the deal work) would have fetched more than what they ended up with. Same with Strome/Nelson from NYI.
Although I think I get where LV is coming from - just stockpiling draft picks, because they realize they're gonna suck for the near future, so there's no point in getting players who are good now, but will be FA's in 1,2 or 3 years and might not want to re-sign with the terrible Knights.
They already traded away a couple of Dmen selected in the expansion draft too.

this article was a pretty good take on how I felt about their draft. I still honestly dont think vegas had to suck their first year. They could have built at least 2 solid lines. All I can say is for some of the teams there must be some side deals not in writing yet....

on a side note, i did horrible at picking the players. I managed to get 5 of them right
-
Just realized.... LV (Eric) gets to keep 3 from this draft...sooo 3 1st rounders. Not bad haha, not bad at all.
On a different note, other than the top pick, the rest of the players available from this draft for us suck. Most of the top guys fall into everyone's keepers I think.
Booerns :rool:

Eric has to pick Arizona keepers.
