FREE AGENCY begins: February 22, 2023
Here are the basics you need to know.
Post the Position and full name of the Player in the subject line.
**Maximum 5 winning bids open at one time per team.**
All bids are considered closed and final when 48 hours has passed since the last bid. All bids are for the amount of the total contract. Bids simply must be in multiples of $500k. Once a bid is closed, the GM must decide on a contract for the player. When bidding PC, a PC holds a $0.5m value. So if you bid PC + $1m, the total contract is $0.5m + $1m bonus salary subtracted from team salary.
Bidding on prospects is done by Prospect Contract (PC) and if applicable a Signing Bonus (ie. PC + $1m). Signing bonuses are guaranteed money and will not move with the player if traded. Signing bonuses count toward team salary and listed on spread sheet. All bonuses are for current year.
BIDDING
The minimum annual salary is $500k.
The minimum bid raise is $500k for a total bid less than $9.9m.
The minimum bid raise is $1m for total bids $10.0m or higher.
Make sure you have the cap to bid on FA or your bid will be illegal and not recognized. New 2023:The league does not have any time limit to adjust roster after winning bids in FA. However, in all honesty the league would exercize a limit of up to 48 hours that GM makes roster changes. Otherwise, their bid is invalid. Most GM will state with bidding, if won, a suggested move be made.
There shall be no editing of bids under any circumstances. If there is an issue regarding a bid, send a PM to Commissioner to resolve it.
Please do not post any comments in the bidding threads or complain if someone makes a invalid bid. NEW 2022: GM unable to continue bidding on particular player once committing invalid bid. The bidding time is 48 hours, so if someone bids within those 48 hours, it is entirely legitimate and something everyone needs to accept.
Free agency will lock at the end of league regular season, Sun 9-3-23, when all team rosters are locked.
Any player acquired can not be dropped for minimum 60 days (...however can be traded). Release date will be added in BLUE on spread sheet.
FA EXTENSION - DEAD TEAM -
Once the season begins any team considered a dead team (NO GM) will be turned over to control of league office. A new clause called FA Extension will be enforced. This is where a dead team receives FA players on a 3-year extension (by league rules) to entice new people in taking over the dead team. The discretion of FA Extension players will be made by league office in building a dead team (using up team salary). The FA players added to dead teams will be to open roster slots. The commissioner or anyone else will not make lineup changes going forward to a dead team.
