Title: Offseason Poll #8 - International Free Agency Funds
Post by: Vik on February 16, 2020, 04:16:51 PM
Current Rule

Currently the rule uses real life team funds, which doesn’t really make sense for our league

Proposed Rule Change (more inline with MLB)

The international funds bonus pool will be determined by reverse order of the previous years standings. The base bonus pool for each team of the 30 teams will be $4.75m. Teams finishing 11 - 20 in the standings will receive $5.25m. Teams finishing 21-30 will receive $5.75m. (Numbers taken from CBA).

International funds may be traded in increments of $250,000, up to $1,000,000 per trade.

IFA fund allocation should not be more to teams who suck.  IFAs sign with teams who are good or known for developing IFA talent.  It is better to keep it as is and a set amount per team instead of changing it based on how bad you team is.  That's what the draft is for.

I generally think it's a good idea, at least not a bad idea. Only problem is getting the teams to actuall spend the $$.

Are you suggesting a uniform $ amount for every team (bascially same as salary cap where everyone is even playing field and how we have it in Bush league). This is simple but I am not agains it.

I am not huge on being linked to real life but I do see why also basing it on standing might not be best idea.

Currently 7-4 vote in favour of going with proposed rule but any other thoughts here?

I went back and read the proposed solution.  I am okay with it.  I change my vote to Yes.

I think it should be an even amount for every team.
