I like that idea.  Or if you don't sign a certain quality player to the max then they can't be extended again and become a UFA at the end of the contract.

I don't like the auto release as the reason you sign to a short contract (bridge contract) is to hope to get them cheaper the next time around but if we force into a max extension on the next one that makes sense in terms of the real life "bridge contracts".

With Montreal, you would need to swap team names with another GM to a less storied NHL franchise then you could relocate that new team next season.

For this season, currently relocation is over.
