Title: 2017 Playoff Preview (The Quest Begins March 18th)
Post by: Drew on March 06, 2017, 06:09:06 PM
Round 1 Projections
1st - :STL-NHL: (16-4)
vs
8th - :LAK: (11-9)

2nd - :VAN: (15-5)
vs
7th - :CHI-NHL: (12-8)

3rd - :NYR: (11-9)
vs
6th - :CLG: (14-6)

4th - :TOR-NHL: (15-5)
vs
5th - :DET-NHL: (15-5)

In the hunt:
:PHI-NHL: (10-10) --> Should win out with the remaining schedule (:TBL: and :BOS-NHL:) then needs a stumble by a current playoff team.
:PIT-NHL: (10-10) --> Should win out with the remaining schedule (:BOS-NHL: and :WAS-NHL:) then needs a stumble by a current playoff team.
:DAL-NHL: (10-10) --> End off year with a battle against the Kings!
:CLS: (9-11) --> Have to win out to give themselves a chance, win by the Kings and their out.

Nolan Patrick Race
:WAS-NHL: vs :TBL: - who is going to get the most points and therefore not get the 1st overall pick (#notanking)

Really good to see LA pushing for a playoff spot but could be in tough against the defending cup champs in Slack's Blues.
Weird to see Tony on the lower half of the bracket but that is the way it goes some years, just ask myself or Tyler.
Vancouver's goalie situation has propelled them to the top of the Pacific and could be a scary team to face in the playoffs with Anderson returning to the net as well.
The 4 vs 5 matchup should be interesting to watch as 2 original six division rivals face off in a quality matchup!

Good luck to all on this final playoff push.

Sucks to be on the outside but that's what happens with Quick out for the year since day 1 and not being able to acquire another G. Anaheims future and young guns coming up give some hope! So Drew I feel your pain seeing this is the first time since day 1 of the league we will not be contenders!!

Good luck to everyone when the playoffs get going!!

A 7 game loosing streak pretty much took me out of the playoffs

Guess I shouldn't have set my lineups 2 weeks in advance **just kidding**

Looks like my team drafted Laine last year and we won't mind adding Nico this year. Boston is determined to reach #1.

With Tampa playing the Rangers this week it would have been helpful if they set their lineups maybe I would have had a chance to make the playoffs.Pretty sad.Left some scorers on the bench for last 3 days.  >:(

Now it looks as if I won't because of it.Something needs to be done about it IMO.

I set my lineups regardless.

Have to look at enforcing some penalties for these situations, this could also be the difference between 1st overall pick or not for another team.

Tampa was ahead till scores from yesterday but if other players would have played throughout the week score would have been close, now I probably won't get into the playoffs with the score the way it is and no way to catch up.Disappointing should I say.

Might want to look at all teams. Good to know we got a snitch in this league though.  :o

btw, Dave (snitch) you might want to do some fact checking before calling someone out. I took over a team that was CLEARLY tanking, was 0-8. I called up guys like Mantha and add a lot of players to field a team. I ended up going 4-9-1 the rest of the year. Sounds like a team that improved drastically, if you ask me.

In many years of this league not often we have someone calling someone out and calling them a snitch. All GM should be setting lineups on a consistent basis no matter their placement or anything else. It affects more than your own position it affects others.

An 0 for 8 run isn't clear evidence of anything. From time to time we have managers that lose interest in their team or in the site entirely. Tampa's GM was silent in the forums, and very infrequently engaged with PM's. From what I saw, regular setting of line-ups wasn't a high priority either. For this reason I am very happy to have a site veteran, who clearly cares about the future competitiveness of the franchise, as Tampa's new GM.

That said, even if Tampa's previous manager was purposely trying to move up in the draft, that doesn't mean it is condoned! Our rules clearly state in the General Manager Code of Conduct: 5. Managers are to maintain their line-ups on the fantrax website. If general managers are deemed to be intentionally "throwing" a season they will be removed and replaced in the league.

That is cool, but any discussions relating to this should of been between the GM(s) and the Commish via PM and not some idiot calling teams out.  With that said, I'll be waiting for my PM to add my 2 cents. I have nothing else to say publicly.

In 6 years of the leagues existence you're probably the first GM to call another GM an idiot and a snitch. Soooo, congrats on that.

No place for it in this league.

Typical Jonathan, always trying to put the blame somewhere else or berate people.A real gem.
I was in a tight race with Pittsburgh and the Rangers and didn't know if I would make the playoffs or not so I kept an eye on their games and just happened to notice in your game against the rangers that you could have put Gagner,Helm and Forsberg in as you had a nice lead on the Rangers and maybe or maybe not this would have helped.I play all my players sometimes ones that are hurt so maybe by some chance they will play.I apologize if it happened to be you but would have done that no matter the GM as I like to have my teams play other teams with all the players they have available and if they beat me so be it.They beat me with every available player.

I have nothing more to say about this and quit calling people snitches and such and play all your available players all the time.If you are too busy in your personal life you don't need to be here.It affects everyone.

Jonathan has received a warning given for GM Code of Conduct. Please drop the topic on both sides of the argument. I will look into forming some any tanking rules to add into the league because there is a noticeable difference between "tanking" and forgetting to set lineups.
