What is everyone's thoughts on having 2 games per week. Just thought I would throw it out there not necessarily for it.
-
Not sure I am a big fan, personally!
-
Yea I am not a big fan

:iatp: unless the majority of the league is for it...
-
We would have a 7 or a 14 game schedule.
-
I'd prefer the 14 games myself. Make it a competition at least but sounds like I'm in the minority.
-
How would fantrax score this?
Also there are 7 days a week so would that mean matchups would be 3 days and 4 days?

No just possibly 2 matchups in the same week that both last 7 days.

Was wondering how that would work. Another interesting idea that would have my support either way............. I'm just happy we are back playing
-
I am not a fan of it... BTW has an NHL schedule been released?
-
doesnt matter to me
-
If my understanding is correct, this discussion is for each team to simultaneously play against 2 teams per week. I like that idea. Makes things a little different in this goofy truncated season.
-
I'll vote for twice a week, the more activity the better, at least for me.
-
It has been confirmed that the season is going to be 15 weeks long... I am still not a fan of the two matches per week thing, but I believe this is still pertinent information in regards to the match ups.
-
Well I'm for whatever but I do like the idea of 2 match ups a week simultaneously Wich would make it a full season
-
I like 2 games a week more since the season is so short. Better indication of which teams are the best
-
Can someone tally up the votes for me, I have to go to class. My vote is a no just based on bad weeks can put you further out of contention quicker than only 1 game per week.
This also need to be decided within the next 3-4 days so we can get the schedule completed.

Well it looks like a tie....... with one vote undecided.
-
If we do our regular one week matchups we can do a 10 game season which is not too bad.

Changing my vote to 'no'.

Looks like with three weeks of playoffs we would be able to get in 11 games. With the Stanley Cup finals being 9 days long for added intensity. This would be if we changed our playoffs a bit. If not this would be the same but minus 1 game to make room for regular playoffs.
Last season we had 23 games in our season with our final being 6 days long.
Double schedule would make for 22 games or 20 games depending on schedule we choose.
Here is what the standings were like after 10 weeks. Would having double games changed this anymore? Would they have looked much like the final standings? (BOTH ATTACHED BELOW)

:iatp: it works :disco:

Looking at these results (and considering that we are using a top 8 cut off instead of a top 12 cut off), the play off result would of differed by two teams, which is a huge difference. The top 5 teams remained the top 5 teams, and obviously four out of those five made up our top 4 last season.
If you look at the four teams that make up the difference, here are their second half records:
Dallas 5-7
Los Angeles 4-8
Boston 8-5
Colorado 8-5
The second half of the season made a HUGE difference between who would of made the play offs in a 8 team cut off, as Boston and Colorado were able to sneak in with a moderately good record while LA and Dallas faltered in the end.
I still feel that playing two games per week would be terrible, as not only would a terrible week give a team 2 losses, but a 130 pt week would most definitely give another team a "free" four points instead of just two.
I say we have an 11 game season with a 3 week play off.
-
It would be like the 1st year we held this league, it was only a half season, but I know we didn't hold playoffs that season either!

Definitely crowning a champ via playoffs, just depends on what we do.

I forgot to quote the post before.

Sorry still confused because I put many options in my thing, I put 10 or 11 game schedule depending on how we wish to run playoffs or a double schedule with the two different playoff options.

me too. haha
I like the 11 game regular season and 3 week playoff with top 8 getting in. (1vs8, 2vs7, 3vs6 and 4vs5)

Should I wait for a final decision or make a 11 game schedule?
-
We could do half and half.
- 11 weeks (5 single game weeks and 6 double game weeks)
This gives us 17 total games and make sure we play everybody at least once.
What do you think?

Give it a day or two, we don't even have a schedule yet haha.

Sorry Tony but I am going to use commissioner power and veto this one. I believe it has to be all single or all double. This format puts too much importance on the double weeks and not much importance on the single week games. You could lose all the single weeks and win all the double weeks and still have a decent record of 12-5 but only really had a weekly record of 6-5.
So for that reason, sorry Tony and others that may have wanted this option but I can't allow the option.
-
I am going to put up a poll. Voting will be closed tomorrow so I hope as many vote as possible. The two options will be all single or all double!

It was only an idea to discuss. I like the 11 game schedule.
