Title: Braves - Giants Trade 1/30/22 10:59 pm ET

Braves trade:
SP Leake, Mike, $5m (2022)
X-Leake, Mike, Cash Exchange, $2.0m in 2022
C Bailey, Patrick, $0.5m (P-n/a)

Giants trade:
MI Potts, Hudson, $0.5m (P-n/a)

While I am in my final season, the Braves are rebuilding their roster, so the Giants negotiated this trade to get C Patrick Bailey back for the future Giants GM and give the Braves some cap relief to continue rebuilding their team.  The Braves are getting rid of a SP who has not pitched since 2019, and with it, clear a roster space and get $3.0m in cap relief.  CI Hudson Potts was at AA in 2021 and now that he is healthy, should continue to progress to the MLB.

Braves do this to gain a position of need in 3B and then get younger and gain cap space for a rebuild. As the team has Cartaya at C for the future, we can afford to deal Bailey. We wish the Giants the best in their final season under current ownership and wish the team (and GM) the best in the future.

There is only one remaining Trade Committee vote, and regardless of how it is cast, yea or nay, the trade will be approved.  Since it is the off-season, the trade will be processed prior to the expiration of the 48 hour viewing period because there is no fantasy competition impact.
