Title: Jung Ho Kang Objection
Post by: ldsjayhawk on March 19, 2019, 06:44:03 PM
I did a little more research on this and I have an objection.  This isn't something I really thought about until after I posted the bid.  However, I signed Kang to his original contract in Jan 2015.  As of the end of his contract, he had only used 4 years of service time, even though he was listed at MAX.  I removed him on the spreadsheet and placed him in the free agent area because of the MAX, thinking nothing more about it, until the other day, when it occurred to me that he had not exhausted his 6 years of service time.  I was unsure of how this is normally handled, so I went to check Shohei Otahni and saw that he was signed for 5 years at 21M and then had an additional ARB year beyond.

Therefore, I believe Kang should still be on my team.

As a side note, he passed through waivers unclaimed.  We automatically assign players to the minors when that takes place.

Ok not so sure how to fix this problem. How do we figure out his max contract is? I don't mind giving him back that's not the problem its the money that's the issue.

The Arb years are supposed to be the about if the contract the player had the year before.  That is $3m.  Unless that is not right.

There is no arb yrs you signed him to a regular contract. It wasn't a pc contract. So u do have him but original contract is 3.7m dollars for 2019. Look up at previous message I posted its on pg 2 of exact contract u signed him.

It doesn't have to be a PC contract.  Service years are not tied to the contract.  Check out Ohtani on :BAL:.  If it weren't for service time, I would not get to keep him.
