Bobby Witt Jr

Brad Hand $5m (2022)

Losing a young arm in Gray and elite closer in Chapman is never an easy move but I’ve got the arms to step in and Hand can capably replace Chapman along with a nice prospect return. Note pending approval of the deal I will make minor league drops if necessary to be roster compliant

Rockies agree i make this trade for 2 reason 1 im looking for another sp i can build my team around in gray a and 2 i add chapman who i feel is way better rp than hand is. I have some ss on my major league roster i can resign so loseing witt wont sting as much and i have of debth and another of in my minors i like more in johnson i feel will help off set the loss in both guys i traded away

The Machado one is borderline as well but I'll wait on that one.

Chaps isn't playing this year, is he? So his contract is over. Or your re-sign him based on last year's performance which doesn't make a whole lot of sense seeing as he'll be pretty well 2 years older than last year's performance stats. For that reason I'd say Hand>Chapman.

Witt Jr. is what, a top-10 baseball prospect? That plus VVM and Olivares isn't even close to comparing with Gray for me. Especially given P-contracts versus an already "vet" contract.

For me I see COL trading away 2 of it's top value players on the roster (Hays and now Witt Jr.) in exchange for a couple "big" name veterans past their best years both fantasy wise and real life wise, and a middle of the pack SP in Gray (for our league with fewer teams than normal leagues on here I'd say he's just middle of the pack, nothing fancy for a 28-year old).

I have to agree with WestCoast.  Bobby Witt is worth more than Jon Gray and Aroldis Chapman on his own let alone to include a pitcher in Brad Hand that would be similarly valued to Chapman and additional prospects.
