:LAA: makes this trade to continue to reshape the franchise.  :LAA: has gathered prospects since coming into the league and is using that capital to make the team better and quickly.  I pay a bit more to get Arenado paid and give me some time to get a big contract or two off the books before paying him and needing to resign him. Arenado is a stud, no question, but if I'm going to rebuild then I'm going all in. The way I see this is that I'm spending $26.4m to buy prospects that well help me in the near future.
